Will a YZF 426 motor fit in a Warrior Frame?? I've narrowed it down to either getting a 446 bore and stroke kit or getting a YZF motor. The reason for this engine swap would mainly be the better gearing in the tranny.

Any other ideas if this doesn't work??

Man that would be one sweet warrior and no offence i dont even like them much but that would just be wicked

you could physically get the motor to fit BUT you'll have trouble lining up the swingarm pivot point and the countershaft on the yz.the warrior motor counter shaft is taller than the yz.how do i know?i was gonna put a yz490 motor i have into my warrior frame thats collectin dust.

Not a smart idea though...

I race with a guy who has one. Fastest warrior i've ever seen. First time i saw it on the track i thought what the hell is that. Wicked bike. I'm in the process of putting a yz400 motor in my 400ex. It's a pain but will be well worth it.

probably because a warrior wasnt ever known for its handling.especially at the mx track.i knew a guy that used to race one in the gncc;s back in the mid 90s,yeah it was fast but also heavy and to tippy.sure if you got $$$ you can cure any handling ills but...If you want more power from your warrior im sure you can find those 450 or 500cc kits if you look around, just stay in the woods..:D

My plans are to get +5+1 A-arms, +2 swingarm, +4 axle, Elka shocks, 20in. tires in front, 18in. tires in rear. All I (think) I need is a nice big bore or a nice dirt bike motor to make a hybrid. (not looking for a pro quad. Just something capable of amateur(sp) class.)

Any other suggestions besides the obvious??

Well .. you could just take all that money .. sell your warrior .. and buy a yfz450 and go from there..

What's the fun in that?? I want a one of a kind quad, not one that almost everyone has!

Sure it might be unique, but it won't handle as good as a YFZ.

I am very aware of that, and I could care less if it handles as good as a YFZ. I'm not going pro or even racing a lot. I'm mostly going to be riding on courses around my house or just out riding with friends. The reason for this build is to shut people up about dissin on Warriors and for MY own satisfaction!

No need to get all heated. Also, it won't even be a Warrior when you put a 426f engine in it. Build a Warrior engine, don't put a different one in there.

Sorry about going off on you, but I'm just tired of people telling me to get rid of my quad. Anyway, I was thinking that the 426 would be lighter and have the gear ratios that I was wanting. You are right though, It wouldn't be a Warrior when I put that motor in it.

Build the crap out of the Warrior.

If I do decide to keep and build the motor, is there a way to change the gearing or do I need to get the 426F motor?

it prob wont be worth it, sure you will have a unique quad, but the handeling, suspension travel, and maintaining it will be a headach. you will prob crack frames and run into problems. the major companies spent tons of time and money designing sport quads to handle what they are used for,if it was a good design dont you think it would be avainable now? if your just wanting to race a few XC type events, and trail ride, look at one of the 400cc sport quads. they will save you money instead of building a hybrid, and will be faster even stock.

You can change sprockets to get different power. If you're talking about actual transmission gears then I'm not sure.

I've seen a few warriors with 400ex motors, but I'm with jester i would just get a yfz. I don't blame ya for wantin a unique tho, I'd love to put a yz400 or CRF250 motor in my 300ex.

Do you know about how hard or easy it is to put a 400ex motor in a Warrior?? That could be another possibillity!

why would you do a 400ex motor?if your gonna do a swap you might as well go with something WAY faster than what you have now.why do a 27hp 400ex motor when you could have almost 48 with a yz426 motor and less weight?if your gonna do it,go big.dont let anyone talk you out of being different.i like being one of a kind when i pull up to the track.feels good to smoke those new quads that guys are still paying on and mine has been paid for..i love it:D

Might wanna do a search on exriders, and bluetraxx. There was also an artical in the march issue of ATVsport. Might wanna e-mail ATVSport and ask them to give you the guys contact info.

i remember seeing a 99yz400f motor in a warrior in a dirtwheels back in 99 or 00. it was in the letter section, so not a lot of pictures, but it looked good and the motor looked like it fit nicely. the guy said he won his first race with it too.

How about I post a poll on either a 446 big bore or a YZ426f hybrid??

You should take a look at bluetraxx.com and search for the warriorGT. The guy put a damn gsx750 (I think) in his warrior and put a clip up. Looks soooooooo sick and very professional.

Shut up EVERYONE. Do what you want with your bike, and if you were in the los angeles area I'd help you build it. The 350 can be made into a 446 through four stroke tech's piston and crank kit.

ALBA has a 400 stroker kit, Four stroke tech has a 446 kit, i seen a 400ex motor in a warrior that was fast and they said it wasnt that hard to put in, i would go with the 446 kit i was going to put it in mine but it got stolen!!!!
