blueprinting?

What exactly is blueprinting a motor? I hear it from time to time but have no idea what excatly they do when blueprinting a motor.

I always have heard the word blueprinting with the word balanced. I always took it that the crank and cam where balanced to give the smoothest revolution possible. Sort of like you would a tire.

I always took blueprinted as putting the car or engine on the dyno after the work to blueprint its power output.

I am probably wrong about both of these, but I thought I would say how I always took it.

blueprinting is building an engine that is perfectly in specs (almost perfect). everything is measured / ajusted / balanced to get the best possible motor.

Blueprinting is basically perfecting everything inside the motor. Making sure the crank is perfectly balanced, making sure the piston doesn't have any flaws, making sure your ports and your sleeve are matched perfectly (on a 2-stroke). Its one of the few processes that add both horsepower AND longevity.
