ur doing it wrong, dont you know anything, make sure you have the axle pushes as FAR to the right as you can, and just put it on, once u figure out how to put it on, its all good

well the stock hubs wont fit either.....but it fits in the carrier...is it the wrong axle:confused:

You more than likely bought the wrong axle since the OEM hubs do not fit.

sounds like you got a 400ex or 250r hub,and if you did have to buy the LSR locknut they are pretty expensive at like 200 bones, but that is the anti-fade brakehub/locknut

rollie

well we got the locknut to fit....but the hubs still dont want to go on....my dad seems to think they may just have to be pressed on...or is it possible to get a 300ex axle that doesnt work with 300ex hubs?

JDiablo
03-13-2005, 08:37 AM
the hubs shouldnt need to be press on,are the hubs to big or to small?

rollie
03-13-2005, 08:39 AM
they seem to be too small...but when we measured the size of where they go on the axle it was the same?

JDiablo

go get a pic, maybe try and "force" them on there a lil bit, maybe it just a tight fit,and try to clean any rust and debris inside the hub off too

rollie

i dont have a digi camera :( so i think im gonna try to force them on a bit.....it just makes no sence that the axle fits now but the hubs dont come close?

Clean the splines on the axle and the hubs. Add some moly grease and then see how it fits. COUNT the splines to make sure they are the same.

rollie

i just counted them...the hubs have 25 and the axle has 24....or the other way around:rolleyes: ahhh why cant K&K tell me i need hubs when i buy the damn thing....because i dont have another 200 bucks for hubs

All LSR axles use stock carriers, stock hubs, stock locknuts, thats what they are designed for, although they want you to use there aftermarket carriers, hubs, and anti-fades you dont need to. Its the wrong axle I guarantee it, all LSR axles are stamped with date made and model to be used on in the middle of the axle, take it back out and look at it... Remember if you force it and screw up the splines or something, K&K probably wont take it back.

rollie

yeah, after thinking about it i decided agaist trying to force them on...i dont see how the axle wpould fit in teh carrier fine tho...but your right its clearly the wrong axle im calling K&K tommorow

thanks for the help guys

Are you sure its not 8/9/whatever. Cause LSR took over JP Racing in 96. If it actually says 89 then its a JP axle. Also if it is an 89 then its an axle for a 250X.

yep it says 89.....thats prob why the lonestar stickers are on backwards...right?

great this story is getting better and better:rolleyes:

The stickers wouldnt have anything to do with it... Does the axle have a "Lonestar Racing" date made, and model stamped directly into the axle? If not then its not an LSR axle. for some reason I cant believe that it would say 89 as the year made. I dont think you realize how many axles LSR turns out.

rollie

i know that LSR turns alot out but the axle is in front of me right now and it says

LS-H1-08/01-089

that's all it says and when i put the axle on the LSR stickers(on both sides) where upside down which i know prob doesnt have anything to do with it..but the sproket hub looks like an LSR...

reply back..im very interested in this

It is a 250R axle. They pulled the wrong one for him. So please return it and get the right one. Sorry for the problem!!

Rock on Dan! I was hoping you would step in here and help the guy out.

On a side note, it's interesting that the 250R Axle would fit the 300EX carrier. Are all of the honda axles (chain driven) the same inner diameter?

dantwo
03-14-2005, 10:12 AM
All the bearing surfaces are the same diameter (TRX450, 250R, 250X, 300EX). The distance between the bearings is different and the off set of the sprockets. I hope this answers your question.

Yup. Thanks!

so K&K should take it back no questions asked?

dantwo
03-14-2005, 01:09 PM
As long as it is not damaged, I am sure they will not have a problem with taking it back. Dose your invoice show you ordered a 250X / 300EX axle?

rollie
03-14-2005, 01:12 PM
it said 250X and the box said 300ex so i figured it was the correct axle....im gonna call K&K tonight

I dought you will have any problems...........

Dan thanks for coming and clearing this up. By the way, have you guys used that stand at all with Keith's bike? I know you guys are busy but let us know if you would still be interested in doing something. Thanks, Morgan @ R3.

So I could use a 400ex or 250r axle on my 300ex if I bought 400ex or 250r hubs, and lock-nut?

dantwo

I am almost positive you can get by with just the rear hubs. The other problem would be your wheel off sets. The bearing housing is not normally in the center of the axle, but they could be very close. It can be made to work and if that was your only choice then do it. I would still rather see the right axle on the right bike. They all have their little differences and would never be perfect.
