I was wondering where the weakest parts are on a 300ex frame and also what kind of meatal and how thick of meatal to use to gusset the frame, and what type of welder would work best.

it seems that from common sense the weakest parts of the frame would be in the middle since that is where all the weight and pressure goes to in landing jumps especially the bottom.

you can't crack a 300EX in three years of HARD mx racing and abuse i never broke mine once I've broke the gas tank and busted a shock in half on it but never once cracked the frame if I were you I wouldn't worry about it

yeah i would check into that area. i would just look to see if you can see stress marks on the frame where paint is spidering and cracking.

They crack in front of the footpegs. Do a search, I just saw a post about 300ex gussets in another forum.

I cracked it right above where the shock mounts on top. That seems ilke a common place. I only ride hard motocross a couple times a year.
