how much gas..run through tank????

hey how many gallons of gas are you apost to run through the tank on a brand new quad before you can run them wide open??? I heard you are apost to run 5 gallons through them so it seals the rings and ****.....then you can run wide open....

im going to quote "rico" on this one

"on a new bike or rebuild, to seat the rings, start the quad up, put it in first, find a nice long straight stretch, lean forward a little bit, let the clutch out, push the throttle as far as it will go, bang 2nd 3rd 4th and 5th, and hang on, your engine is now broken in"

well he says it in not so many words, but basically the same idea

There are dozens of opinions about how you are supposed to break in an engine. I can't tell you the very best way but I think the advice at this site makes sense. Good luck.

lol.. yeah I hope that works. I just did that with my new 400ex. Rode it like I stole it from the start. We'll see how long she lasts.

actually I was gentle for at least 5 minutes just to warm it up.. then it was balls out.

break in the cam first (run for 10min at 2000 rpm) Then ride it like you stole it.

I agree with Rico's quote. If you think about it, that method makes the most sense.

However, I cant tell you if it works firsthand becuase Ive bought all my machines used.:(
