I guess that since it is in the 70s in Connectiut i should change the oil. What do you guys recommend for a 97 300ex? i was thinking about getting Mobil 1 15-w50 synthetic. Would this be all right? How much oil do i need for a 97 300ex?? I need to know the exact amount -- i dont have a manual (dont give me that lecture) could someoe please tell me how much oil i need??

also, would changing the oil from 10w40 make the engine noises go down. Ever since it has been warming up i have heard some funy noises coming from the engine but im thinking it is because the oil is getting too hot and watery.......any opinions??

I run Honda 10w40 syntheic and seems like it does the trick for what i use it for! As far as the amount my 400ex uses 1.95 Quarts

USE A 15W50 OR A 20W50, AND I HAVE RUN CAR OIL IN QUADS SINCE 1988, CASTROL GTX 20W50 YEAR ROUND. CHANGE IT EVERY 100 HOURS, AND NO PROBLEMS YET. ALL OIL DOES THE SAME THING, HIGH PRICE OR GENERIC NO MATTER WHAT BRAND YOU USE. MAIN THING IS THE USE THE PROPER WEIGHT AND KEEP IT CHANGED. AN OIL CHANGE COSTS ME $3.00 FOR 2 QUARTS.

If I remember right my old 94 300ex used 1.5 quarts. I doubt they changed any thing in later years.

for my 01 300, i use 10w-40 in the winter and 20w-50 in the summer. when i move to NJ, i will stick with 10w-40 year round. as for amount of oil. it is "1.69 US quart". right out of the instuction manual. what i usually do is put in a quart and a half, run it, and let it drain for about 5 minutes. then i check it. it should touch the top notch on the dipstick. if not, add more. that way, when you run it for 5 minutes and check it imediately, it will usually read half. good luck
