450r filter on a 400ex

my friend recently got rid of his stock foam filter on his 450r and was going to give it to me for my 400ex. they arnt the same filter. the 450r filter looks to be the same size, but it is foam on all sides (more flow), and my stock 400ex has a rubber end. does anyone know if these filters are enterchageable?

best way to tell is to take yours off and try it, but i wold suggest an aftermarket one.
