the yfz needs a "normaly closed" switch, such as the pingle, to use the stock kill switch wires.
although I don't recomend using a normaly "open" switch, such as the pro-design, here is how to hook it up.

Follow the wires up from the oil filler plug (four wires) to just before the first connector (under the hood) the wires separate into pairs.
Pick the white/red pair and splice the longest wire out of the kill switch into the white wire and the short wire from the k/switch into the red wire.
No need to earth any wire.

Ive had a prodesign crap out on me. I wired the longest wire to the white wire of the stator and the other was a ground. Im considering buying a pingle how does it wire up?

follow the wires from your stock kill switch, on the handle bars, to the connecting plug. cut the brown and red with black stripe, and connect the wires from the pingle switch to them. Make sure you get the "normaly closed" pingle switch.

Why the recommendation for a normally closed switch? Is there something wrong with a normally open switch setup on the YFZ?

when the stock kill switch is in the "on" position, the circut is "closed". when you put the switch in the "off" position, it opens the circut. this is why it is so confusing to hook up a "pro-design" style kill switch, because it is "normaly open". when you pull the teather, it grounds the circut, which is bad for the yfz's digital ignition. It works great on banshee's, blaster's, 250r's, and even 450r's. but anything with a battery in the system, sending a ground into it, is bad.
and yes I know, many people are using the pro-design, without any problems, and it does work to kill the motor, but even the pro's will tell you that constant use, will damage your elect. system. that's why most of them use the stock key switch to shut the motor off.
