Anyone got any tips for getting the ball joints out of the stock spindles? I got a ball joint seperator that you beat with a hammer and it pushes the two apart, but that didn't do anything. I tried using a c-clamp, one end on the spindle other on the ball joint bolt, but that didn't work. Any tips besides beating the hell out of my spindle?

450racer r, I replaced my right side a arms 3 weeks ago. What I did was to put pressure on the knuckle (thats what the Honda dealer calls the part that houses the spindle) and the ball joint by using a long pry bar. Just wedge it in there, don't hit the rubber on the ball joint unless you are changing them out anyway, and apply a good amount of pressure.

Then get a hammer and and knock the heck out of the ball joint housing. That along with the pressure should jar it loose.

Exactly what I did. I'd leave the castle nut on, but run it basically to the end of the threads, just so you don't risk screwing up the threads with a hammer. Then give it a good firm hit and they'll pop right apart.

You are useing an automotive balljoint splitter
Try an automotive tie rod splitter

I tried the tie rod one too. I got both of em. I'll try knocking the side of the bolt like them guys said. I just sprayed some wd40 on it, maybe that'll help out.

thanks guys, i got it. After some wd-40 I wedged the tie rod splitter in there and then hit the ball joint bolt about 10 times and it popped right out.

Just make sure you adjust both front tires to be the same exact distance from center line on frame THEN adjust the toe in( not much at all maybe 1/8 inch)

the hardest part for me was the stock balljoint removal. it took me atleast 1:30. it was a *****. Yeh the toe in is pretty simple. to asjust the camber get a square and measure to the top of the wheel. there are recomendations on what the camber should be for given conditions.

yeah, it's all in the manual. It says to use a toe gauge to check. I'm just gonna measure to the frame like hammer said. that'll work. gotta wait til I get my shocks on though.

If you do this a lot look on the motion pro website. They have a tool, but I just used thiers to make my own coppy. Bolt, Nut and a peice of pipe. took 25 mins to make, and works great with no damage what so ever. you do have to weld it. Ill post a pic whenI get home.

hold on

1st adjust each side until you get the same measurement from center of frame to center of each tire

2nd now adjust toe by measureing center of tires in front and back of the front tires, adjusting each tierod the same at this point till you get 1/8 less in front
