ok guys,im wanting to install a 416 kit in my 400ex.what company should i go with that does a good ,and reliable job.i would like to hear of some experiences,good or bad,that some of you have had. i really dont want to run race fuel just 93 octane if possible.i was gonna purchase the 416 kit from C&D but im not 100% sure i can do the job correctly.thanks....Paul

I have rebuilt several 400's, if you are very mechanical than it's not that hard. I used a wiseco piston and just took the cylinder and had it bored to the piston. I don't know how much beter any of the kits are.

i am mechanically inclined,i just never did it before.i would sure love to sane the 800.00 dollars that i got quoted from a shop if i can do it myself.i need to replace the valves also.before i started my rebuild it was smoking pretty good.i think i might do it myself........

just get a service manual and read and understand everything it says you need to do. make sure you have the tools too. you will be fine. just take the cylinder and piston to the shop so it can be bored and the rings can be matched to the cylinder. good luck
