would you run a plastic belly skid plate that was just like a aftermaket aluminum one , made of thick flex plastic ?

Yep I would........I figure if its that rough,I have no business goin over it in the first place.Some plastic can take a real beating.Send me one,and I'll show ya!!;)

Which brand did you get? I have seen some nice high impact plastic and carbon kevlar skid plates over here.

i would prob be interested in a hard plastic skid, hey rich, does exriders members get a discount ? :D i plan on looking for a skid plate shortly.

i would never run a plastic skid, ever. it might be tuff plastic, but it is still plastic. My uncle has a welder at his house and i had him weld me on a nice steel skid on the belly of my bike for free, better than paying 200 for an aftermarket one, and it works awesome.

I bought one then immediately returned it. All I have to do is look at my current skids and see the chip cuts on the alum. from trail debris.
they wont protect as much as aluminum. the weight difference....who cares...it's peanuts in the big picture of things.

plastic will flex unlike aluminum, so the aluminum will get chipped up. I think it would do a decent job. If someone sold them that was legit, I would probably but one.

I had a plastic skid on my trx250r and it took a beating ,but its still around and in decent shape

I would use a plastic skid just becasue of the fact that it will felx way more than aluminum.

Sounds like a pretty good idea for the MX rider, or at least someone who dosnt hit rocks too often...
