I decided to take my first crack at polishing by polishing my friends xr100 side cases. I think they came out really good for my first time. The pictures are below...what do you think?

Lookin good. Did you take a buffer to them? It looks to me like you didn't. Belive me a buffer makes a world of a difference.

first I took the paint off with some paint stripper I bought at Home Depot, then I went over it with some Medium grade steel wool and some very fine sand paper (I don't know what grit it was, I found it laying around my garage and it worked good) and after I was done sanding it with those two things, I went over it with some turtle wax chrome polish and a rag.

Hmm...I'll have to try that. What would I do? Just put some polish on it and go over it with the buffer? I think my brother has hjis laying around some where.
Dont use turtle wax, use actual aluminum polish, and forcefully rub it in. Itll turn your rag black, and itll make those cases look like mirrors.

Yea use lots of polish on the part then just go over it with the buffer. Wipe off the extra polish with a rag and it will shine like u wont belive.

It wasn't turtle wax, it was made by turtle wax, but it was called Chrrome Polish and I read on the back and it said for Chrome & Metal. I am going to be picking up so Blue Magic tomorrow anyway.
and BTW, It was turning my rag black whenever I'd rub the polish in.

Good try..Your going to need to sand more...and either use mothers or blue magic...def invest in a buffer..works wonders over hand polishing...:)
