do you guys think its worth dumping money into my 400 for one more year. im kinda doubting the whole thing I want to be competative, im a b class racer in the woods hopefully a after the first race;) but in order to do that i gotta have sometin under me. if i decide to keep racing it ill be ordering shocks, a cam, im already getting it ported as we speak, a stabilizer and proly a set of fasst flexx bars. Think this thing will work against the 450's??? or am i wasting my time? it already has a 416 kit also. i know alot of its the rider, im just kinda skeptical. any input on this. anyone still winning on theirs???? thanks

In the woods you can definatly beat them with a well built 400.Suspention and a good low-mid range motor,or at least cam and some other little stuff and a good rider could definatly win.

a well built 416 with piston, cam, carb, good pipe etc and a decent rider will be a challenge for any piped 450

In the woods its all rider anyways. If your good on a 400 you'll be good on a 450. If you suck on a 400 you will suck on a 450. Not saying you suck just using an analogy or whatever its called.

I agree. The 400 is still good for local harescrambles. I race local district races and the courses are so tight your lucky to ever go past 3rd gear in the woods. So having all kinds of power doesn't do much good...

The only place you will miss the extra power is when you come into a spot where you can open it up and try to pass, but the guy in front of you has a 450 and has just enough power to pull away making all that work you did for the last couple of miles meaningless. The 400 is still a great quad and is more than capable of still winning races. The great thing about the 400 is part availability and price. You can find used parts CHEAP from people who are in your same situation.I say race the 400 for another year and start saving for a 450,by then imagine what COULD be on the market.

I won lorretta lynn's gncc on a 400ex. Also a 400ex is 1st in Missouri harescramble series in B Class. My friends have a YFZ and 450r and this guy beats him but I beleve it is far from stock.
