I rode my thirty day wonder today . The jetting is way off and i still need a 250r cdi, but i got thru the gears. I am soo stoked now i cant wait to get it on the trail. Does anybody have a idea on jetting for 88 250r .20 over , bills pipe with stock silencer, and a esr air box kit, stock carb. I know im way lean now but i just dont know how much bigger to get started.
I ride from sea level to 4400 ft above.

dude, just call ESR or sudco and tell them everything they need to know and they will set you up, i usually just get one jet up and one jet down form what they recommend and start in the middle....

Well igot the jetting close and a real "r" cdi on the thing and holy crap its fast . The Irazr tires dont stand a chance of hookin up when it comes on the pipe, I raced my buddy on my 400ex andit wasnt even close. The REX is soo light feeling ,its just unreal to jump between it and the 400.
So now when the subject of swaping a R motor in a 400ex comes up,the answer is yes it can be be done and yes its worth it.
Ive got under 2000.00 in it (thankyou EBAY) And its a tight new feeling machine. The service honda bike will kick my *** but 6000.00 worth of lap dances will make losing ok with me.

Nice looking bike, Got any more pics.

What jet did you use? I've got an 89 r with fmf pipe, k&n filter, & a 39mm kehien carb. I'm pretty sure I'm runing a 170 main in mine ( at sea level).

Nice looking quad.

Keep the pictures coming. How did you set up the motor mounts?

Jetting depends on setup and climate and fuel.

I am running a 175 main 42 pilot on a lightly ported 261R with a 35mm air striker, esr5 pipe, and temps 20-40 degrees at about 700' elevation.

If you are lean it will seam to just die in power as you get on it......and if its rich.......it will sound like its drowning..literally. And another thing.....check your plug.....and in the future.......dont ride it if you know its lean......
