Hmmm, someone on here made their own bracket. I am not sure who it was but I will look for it. I think most people weld their own upper brackets. I don't know of any company's that make such a bracket but I will keep my ears open.

I went and found the person on here who sells the brakets you are looking for. His name is snotme80. I think he was seling the brakets for like 50 im not sure though.

Can't you use 300EX shocks? I know the 400EX shocks are a lot longer. Ummm how bout 250R shocks? I think theyre slightly shorter than 400EX but not 100% sure.

There was another guy that posted a couple of months ago who was making a bolt on suspension bracket.
I think his name was "Countypark" or something like that.

He posted pictures and said he was gonna start selling the brackets for about $100.00.
It was a clean looking kit, plus I liked the fact that you didn't have to weld anything to your frame.

I've been wanting to put the 400 front suspension on my bike, so keep us posted on what you come up with.

Here is a great link to the works performance website. Just select the brand of quad or chassis and you will be able to see shock lenght for almost any quad.works (http://www.worksperformance.com/apps/atv/atvframe.htm)

Ok, the guy who was making the bolt-on kit is Countypark.
His last post was at the beginning of April, so he should still be around.

I don't know how to post a link, but do a search for user name Countypark. Check out the thread started by TRXer.

I've been checking out the 400 a-arms and tie rods on Ebay lately and I'll probably do the same mod as you when I get some cash.

Like I said earlier...keep us posted. I'm curious to see if the bolt on kit actually works.

Snotme80's kit is a bolt-on but you have to drill thru the frame.
Countypark's kit bolted on to the existing shock mounts and there was no drilling or welding involved.

Hey guys,, I think i have an idea.... Ok the 400ex shocks WILL fit in my stock 300ex shocks mounts... but there is one problem.. the shocks are like an inch or two longer... here is my soultuion i was thinkinking about buying a durablue Lowering kit for the front and it should lower it 1-1.5 inches which might just work they are 80 dollars and the best easy bolt on idea.. WHat do you guys think give me some feedback

thanx

I'm not familar with the Durablue lowering kit but my first question is...will you lose suspension travel ???

Check some of the past threads about using 400 shocks on a 300. I think someone else may have tried the Durablue remedy already.

no it just makes the place where the shock mounts higher thus flatening ur a-arms like the if the shock is compressed but it really isnt

You'll completely destroy the lowering kit if you ride in the trails or jump with the bike. The kit isnt designed for that kind of abuse. BTW your 300ex doesnt look too healthy with your rims rotated like that,,,,those calipers are just askin to get hit,,,, and those spindles are gonna bend if you keep it like that.

I asked works performance about this a while back. they told me that they would make a custom length shock to fit this application.
what you will need to do is;
install the 400ex a A-arms (without any shocks)
put your tires on
jack up the front untill it's at the desired ride height
take a measurement from shock mount to shock mount
call works and give 'em the measurement

it should work good, and a set of works steelers should cost between $300-380 without the rezzys. the only big question would be about the geometry. it wont quite be 300ex or 400ex geometry, it will be somewhere in between. but I still like this idea better than any bolt on or weld on kit. and if the shocks are too soft or too hard, you can always have them re-valved.

Anyone have measured the shock lenght needed?

Also, what about using 400ex zps style shock? If the quad is 1-2 inch too high with 400ex shocks, the zps kind of shocks will probably cure that.

05-11-2002, 09:45 PM
well you cant just do that because the 400ex shocks are ABOUT 1 inch back from the mount when u put them on the bikeso that wouldnt match up

Center to center measurements on the shocks are : 13" for the 300ex and 16 1/4" with 400ex shocks. I havent started to installing the 400 front end on the machine yet, because I don't have the time to make an adapter for the longer shocks.

when I need to go wider up front, what I'll probably do (if I don't sell it first),is just get some lower cost A-arms like Burgards. then just have my Works re-valved.
