i think most of the boxes out there give the 400ex an additional 1000rpm over stock, some do away with the rev limliter all together.some also change the ignition mapping as well.BUT i have heard most of them make the 400ex harder to start in the cold, ask around:ermm:

I put a rev box on my 400 ex 3 weeks ago along with everything else at the same time, i did alot of calling around and have had no bad reports of engine problems resulting from higher rpms, one thing i would consider is a valve spring kit at the same time, it did get me 3 mph more top end with the same gearing but i really like the extra boost for hitting jumps and doing weelies.

If you don't have engine work done don't waste your money on a rev box.The engine in stock form quits making power well before you hit the stock rev limiter.

hey if you got a dirt wheels look for Janssen Motorsports number and call him cause my uncle nose him good and i got a rev box from him and mine starts good and runs great in the cold. it gave me 1500 rpms and i can smoke my dads KFX. so call them and ask them about it.

do the rev boxes make enough of a difference to justify the 100 or so bucks?

imo no. not unless you have mods that will make your engine require more rpm because there is more power to be had.

Save your money...and put it into the motor. Spend $50 more and get at least a hotcam stage 1, MUCH more power than a rev box. But if you have the money, dig into the motor so it needs the rev box. It will do nothing for a stocker;)

i will be getting one soon... the only reason i am getting one is for the remapped ingnition curves... i could care less about rev limited.. the lower the better... that whay i dont blow anything up...

i will also be getting a cam soon... as soon as i can find a XR400 cam...
