450R shocks on 400EX

I just recently bought a very slick 2000 400EX. I was wondering if 450R shocks will work on it? Thought I would check before going to the trouble of heading over to my dealer and watching him scratch his head for 30 minutes.

The travel difference between the two makes me think that it will work. Has anyone seen or done this modification?

Thanks for the help. If I find a set, I think that I'll try them. Appears to take very little grinding on the upper eyelet.
