This is about my 05' 400ex I got last night. Im sort of a atv newb, but my advanced friends said they dont think its normal either.

When I start the thing up, following the manual, if i down keep opening the throttle it just stalls. On all my friends quads (raptors, suzukis) they only have to push the start and it stays on. If i dont keep pushing the throttle slightly after I start it dies out. And yes I am opening the choke, starting it up etc....

Please Help :(

i have a 01 300ex and if its not real cold (above around 40ish) and i start it with the choke on it stalls. so i usually dont use the choke. but i dunno, is your quad bran new? cause they have a break in period where your suppose to take it easy with em and it might stall.

Yea I just got it last week, brand new. And tonight when I started it I half choked it like recommended in the manual which it was outside.

Try starting it with no choke. Usually I only use the choke if it won't start without. If its still acting that way you may need to turn the idle adjustment up to get more fuel at idle. I usually have to change this setting a little when going from warmer to colder temps and vice versa.

turn the idle adjustment up a lil bit,it will idle real good then, you will see it right by the choke on your carb,it is like a screw thingy with a wire coming out of it

umm if you just bought it, take it back and tell them to fix it and relieve yourself of the headache!

why would it be a headahce, all he has to do is turn a screw a quarter of a inch which either way it needs to go,i think bringing it back to the dealer will cause more of a headache

But if the idle adjustment doesn't work then you take it to the dealer, try to fix the small problems first, then if you can't take it to the next level by taking it to the dealer

those quads can be cold blooded, once it warms up you wont have to jockey the throttle, dont worry:)
