I have a bad lower ball joint on my YFZ 450 and I was wondering if it was possible to replace them or if i should get new a-arms? I know that on some quads you can't replace them, so i wasn't sure. Anyone know anything about it or have done it? Price (per ball joint if possible). Thanks

Lowers yes, Uppers no. You can do a search online for yamaha parts and find pricing but here is one link http://www.yamahaaccy.com/parts.aspx

When I did a lower I "carefully" removed the boot and then used a propane torch to heat up the arm and then I was able to (with the nut on the end) tap the ball joint out. When I put the new one in I just reversed it.

I was changing an arm and needed the ball joint if you don't need the old ball joint then you don't have to be as careful.

Put a different nut on the stud portion, remove the snap ring and hit the temperary nut. They should come out with a little grunt. The threads will be fine as long as you thread the nut on untill 1 to 1 1/2 threads left before it is flush.
