Before i get started i do not want this thread to turn into a flamefest about lowered trucks verses lifted.. thank you:)

ANYWAY... i currently have a 2000 s-10 extreme... im probably fixin to be selling it and im gonna purchase a 00-02 silverado Z71.... instead of looking for one that already has a lift kit im going to purchase one (superlift 6" suspension lift) and get someone to install it... heres the question... with a lift tires and rims are must! i was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on good websites that have pictures of jacked up trucks so i can see rims on them or if anyone has any suggestions about rims period.. post it... thanks guys:D

here are some pics of my truck,

the best web site for lifted truck/information on them would have to be
pavementsucks.com (http://www.pavementsucks.com)

gmfullsize.com is good but the best place for pics of
lifted trucks is probably cardomain.com
nice choice for truck too
i have a 2000 ex. cab z71 that will be on 36's or 37's in about 8 months

If you are going to take that thing offroad and seriously beat on it, I wouldn't take any Chevy 1500 over a 33. The 10 bolt rear end and the IFS won't handle serious abuse and a 35" or taller tire. It may work for a while but eventually you are going to have some serious problems. Just something to think about.

when i get some money imma get me an old 80's model 3/4ton chevrolet pickup and i have a 350 sittin back here in my yard imma send that off and have it built into a 383 stroker, imma get some 12" springs for it and a 3 inch body lift for a total of 15 inches of lift, 44 swampers, 5.56 gears, headers, comp cam, holley carb, and some other go fast goodies...maybe a supercharger to go on that 383

main reason behind the mud machine is so i wont mess my 98 up playin in the mud with it...ifs is the worst thing to play in the mud with because them bushings and bearings...ive done already had to replace a front wheel bearing on my truck...i aint lookin to be replacing any frontend componets again anytime soon

all of those are pretty plentiful w/ info and pics. if you want a jacked up truck try Full Throttle Suspension. they have a nice 9.5" lift kit for your truck. Looks really good w/ a set of 37s or 38.5s

On my 86 GMC Jimmy I am in the process of installing a total of 12" lift(8" Superlift, 1" zerorates, 3" body) to fit my 42s. I may go up to the 10" superlift but I'm still not sure.

Check out 4wheelparts.com. They have pictures of the wheels I think. The Fabtech lifts are suppose to be one of the best for the 1500 GM trucks with the dual front shock kit.

She has a 13in twisted suspension lift and a 4in whiplash bodly lift..BUT, I have recently took off the body lift and put 40 in truxxis baja tires on them..i sold the 44's that were on there..But anywho, it was way to big..As you can see in the pics, she about 5in shorter now..To be honest w/you I never had to change the cv's yet.But i only also put only 1000 miles on last year I never drive this pig.Once i clean here up from storage Im gonna put her up for sale. But,like ya said bye a older single axle and beat her up.The only wheeling i did was at the dumes when i go riding, shes got5.11gears so she pulls good..But she has to to move them tires..

you seriously have no idea about what the chevy ifs is capable of. I have seen it take a **** load from 39.5" boggers all day long. If you build it right you wont have any problems. Most people don't build them heavy duty though. I am not personally a big fan of any ifs truck. I will stick to straight axle any day. And your 5.56 gears will suck w/ a 383 stroker. top mph will be about 40. With my 42s I'm only running 4.88s and I have a pretty peppy 350 under my hood and I can still cruise on the highway at 65-70 mph no problem. ah the advantages of a extremely well built and cooled 700r4. as soon as my re-rebuild of my truck is done I plan on hitting some of the local mud pits. 15" lift and 42s w/ a peppy 350 isn't something to waste.

TCracin440ex
03-06-2005, 07:56 PM
i do have an i dea what ifs is capable of....but if i was going to build a mud truck i surely wont take my 98 model z71 and beat the shyt out of it and tear that ifs up when i can build a SFA and be not have nearly the problems the ifs does

further more far as 40 mph....i never said once it was going to be street leagle....and last time i checked....you dont need to run 70 or 80 in the mud...sorry to bust your chops....my mud toy wont touch the highway..

TCracin440ex
03-06-2005, 07:57 PM
or i could just scrap the idea of the 350 and get a 454....either way its going to be a nasty *** truck...

mx400
03-06-2005, 10:03 PM
yea i'm not dissin ur idea any I'm just sayin to watch because you will snap your speedo if your not careful. if your in the mud and get on it real hard w/ those gears your gona be cranking the **** out the engine. if its a pure mud truck I would run a 383 stroker. strokers don't like to be revved extremely hard for long periods of time(which is what mud trucks do). I'm not tryin to be a dick but I have been building trucks, 4x4s, and mud runners for the past 5 years and have been building engines for the past 10 years.

From the topic I thought you were talking about trucks that got messed up. Out here in the West Coast we call it lifted or raised. Jacked up means messed up.;)

i really dont know what im going to be building yet, i havnt set down and made my parts list...i kno first things first gotta find me an old 3/4 ton pickup with good solid axles...Proally wont be looking for a truck with a tranny or motor considerin imma build it from scratch...tranny and motor will add to the $$ of the purchase price of the truck...proally find just a roller and go from there with a H/D Tranny, and a bad *** motor...

small ranger. nice flex but way too small for my likings. I don't know how tooo much lift can be illegal. tooo much lift is never illegal. you find ways around it. putting your headlights in your bumper and using a drop hitch. Friend of mine drives a Chevy 1500 w/ 22" lift and 52s daily. He has about a 16" drop receiver on it and his headlights are located below his bumper is custom made buckets.

lift here anything above 9 you might as well look like bein pulled all the time....BUT there is a loophole if you get truck tags you can lift your truck high as jesus and cops cant do 1 thing

this guy here has a f-150 crew cab lifted up pretty big...its a show truck never the less....but he got pulled every time he took it out...so he got a drop bumper...the bumper has about a 15 inch drop on it

Anyone have any pro's or con's about a 1995 GMC Z71 extended cab 4x4 ??

I can purchase one , which has a 3 inch body lift and 6 inch suspension lift and 39 inch tires . The transmission was rebuilt less than 100 miles ago . It's got a performance exhaust , many power options , leather interior and a few other things .

Here's the pics ...

sorry , but dont got no pics

my bro has a 95 jeep grand cherokee with a 6.5 in. superflex rubicon express lift . 31x11.50 super swamper thornbirds, (couldnt get the 33x12.50s under it) nice push bar , 4 in. fender flares, and a pioneer cd player hooked up to 4 6 in. mb quart speakers , a lil bit o' other stuff i cant think of right now

isnt anythin too special , but all in all its an everyday driver and is mostly used to deliver pizza haha (its pretty weird seein ur pizza come in a lifted 4.0 jeep instead of a lil geo metro or a ford escort etc.. lol)

soon to have lockers front and rear , later

yes i bought it.. im financing it through the dealership.. my dad and the owner(s) are realllll good friends.. yes they are adjusting the torsion bars up front to level it out some... the tires are a 285 i believe i thought they were 33's but they may not be.. my brother in law has 33s on his 93 chevy with stock suspension... but yes i am paying for it... 583 a month... the dealership is the one working on it for me... im not spoiled like most... and doin that stuff isnt that big of a deal.. its not tearing into it or anything

He wants 9000 American ... he's from Albany New York . I'm not worried about the gears cuz I have so many sets here at home to swap with .

If someone was to buy this truck , I'd do a straight up trade for my YFZ .

TCracin440ex

285 i think are equivilant to like 30's....well if he had 33 on stock suspension hes rubbin on something...betting money on that or hes done trimmed some stuff...

250x: i just wouldnt buy an ifs if i was planning on lift a truck....ifs is too expensive imo to lift...1600 bucks for suspenison w/o installation is too much....esp when you can get a sfa and lift it up for about 1/2 the cost of the ifs suspension components

im not 100% on this but i think the gears in the frontend of the truck are a tad bit different and harder to put in than the rear...rearends aint that hard...

edit: what i mean by this is i dont think you can put rearend gears in the frontend and vice versa

thats what i was proally gonna do to my truck cuz gas prices right now are going back up here...and im not doin any thing to my suspension or adding bigger tires by much

so i was going to do 15x10 wheels, 285/70 tires give me a lil more ground clearance, and that "fat" look cuz i like how chevys look with offset wheels

i was cryin last night!!!! it was around 50$ in gas to fill up my truck from about and 1/8 of a tank... not only that the roads were bad and i was running 4wd alot and got around 12 mpg:(

then ontop of that the 416$ a month payments suck 2:grr:

i was goin to lift my silverado up 3 or 4 inches but its not worth it... i'll just leave it how it is for a few years...

dodge GOD HELP U!!!! most of them around here i hear of mpg in the range of 8 - 12!!!! i get 18 on a good day...

another thing thou is did anyone see the prices of trucks! my friend just bought a new 05 silverado 1500 ext cab for 20,000!

I'm only running the 3.7ltr, not the 5.9ltr! I went w/ the V6 b/c of the gas prices. I get around 16/19 on good days. I'm hoping that an aftermarket airfilter and possibly new intake could help out the gas mileage.

I bought my truck used w/ 290 miles on it!:) I talked them down to $17,250! Through my bank I got a 4.9% rate, payments are $270 a month!:) I think I got a pretty good deal.

4" suspension lift at the time, never had a 3 1/2 :o

AND that'll be the day when a full size can hold a candle to my truck on the trail, normally we have to leave the full size trucks back in the field and mud bogs since they can't handle anymore, I always thought it must suck for all the guys that had these decked out full size then they had to park there truck and ride in the bed of my small ranger in order to go any farther then the field, a full size truck is not the brightest choice for offroading, why do you think jeeps, toyotas, rangers, and s-10's are the more popular choice, then again if your a person thats more or less into all show and no go, then have fun pimpen your full size

and yeeeessssss to much lift is illegal in all 50 states, some states have different limits but all 50 have a limit and most its not very much and no you can't find away around it, and they measure to the bottom of your bumpers so moving your headlights won't do jack, you don't seem to know very much for as much as you rambled on :huh

Lifting a truck doesn't hurt gas milage it's the bigger tires.

i have a spotless 79 chevy 1 ton with 63,000 origional miles on it ( just turned exactly 62,999 when i parked it in the barn for the winter) i just put a 4" skyjacker lift on and 33X12.5 bfg mud terrains on aluminum wheels, it looks really good and sits allmost 3 1/2" taller than my 82 chevy k10 with a 6" superlift and 35" trail marks (this truck gets abused daily and has been burried in the mud so deep i had to roll down the window and crawl out onto the hood because i couldnt open the door). anyways i think i wont ever go back to a low/stock truck, i have had lifted trucks around since before i even had my licence i can get pics of both if somebody will post them:macho

man you people are getting some crappy mileage. i don't keep my foot into my modded 350 all the time and I'm gettin around 15-18 mpg. When I just feel like getting into it though i'm looking at about 8-10 mpg.

hate to tell ya but I am. I don't cram the gas ever and I feather the pedal. The engine has about 40K on it. Makes about 330 rwhp as of now. I'm running 33s w/ 4.10s. Perfect gear for the tire.

bored TB, port/polish stock heads, titanium valvetrain, balanced and knife-edged crank, rv cam, 9:1 Arias Pistons, Eagle Forged Rods, Blueprinted engine, the block was decked and shaved.

I'm not gona sit here and argue with you. Last summer was when I hit 16.8 mpg average. It said highest was 17.9(highway) and lowest was 14.6(city). I drive more highway than anything else

my daily driver ....84' VW rabbit GTI gets about 34 mpg its lowered and it will remain stock untill spring time...but when i feel like off roading i pull out my 1980 land cruiser fj40...with a 4.2 liter straight 6 and i think 30 inch tires it pulls about 16 mpg...mind you this is a 4000 lbs vehicle!!

no, but when you see what the dealer REALLY makes on a sale, even if they sell BELOW sticker, you would be shocked. Heck, most dealers around here will sell a car for 500-1000 UNDER sticker OUT the door... without knowing an owner (its part of their radio ad's)

...btw, I used to do alot of computer work for most of the dealerships around pittsburgh... got to see some inside info. ;) ... and your right, car dealerships are not in the business to go out of business.

That's the biggest set of tires we can get on #7 without rubbing, but come on 46"tires you can't complain the tires are to big to go up in the wheel wells

I'd take out some lift then, and maybe even cut the fenders out alittle to make it look real good. Slap a set of fenderflares on her, then ya got sumptin!

I had a 85 f350, 12 inches suspension, 3 body, running 44's. He has to be in the 20's for lift.

the one with the rear bags is trash. the one with the lambo doors is ugly. the #7 truck is extremely nice.

On the burban I have we have 15" lift and 44s no rubbing and its a mud fiend. The k5 I am building has 16" lift and 42s. As soon as the burban gets 46s or 49s I am stepping up to 44s.
