Hi All,

I'm in the market for my first atv...after reviewing the many threads in this forum, I've narrowed my choice down to the KFX400. I guess I like the green a little better than the yellow Z. I stopped by my local Kawasaki dealer and he gave me his "best" price of $5199 for a 2005 model. My question is...is this a pretty good deal for this atv? I'm not sure what the usual discounts are on atv's in this price range, so I'm looking for a little reassurance that this is a fair price for this one. Thanks for any input. After owning 15 motorcycles in my life, I'm looking forward to my new adventures on an atv!

Cheers

Very good price. I paid a few hundred bucks more for mine, and then got the 4 year warrenty.

Whats the total going to be OTD?

OTD price should be $5199 + sales tax (8.25%). That's it. I'll probably pick up the protective underbody shield for $80...a little insurance I guess. Thanks for the reply. How do you like your KFX?

Youll love the kfx trust me. I own 4 quads all of the best ones and I will never get rid of my z, it does everything. I ride in upstate ny near watertown and dexter.

I love my bike as well.. theres nothing more i'd rather do than wake up every day and ride till I slide off the side and hit the ground from exhaustion. I cant, but if I had a choice thats what i'd do.

Instead of getting that frame skid, you should get a swingarm skid. I havnt hit my frame yet, but i've already cracked the generic plastic swingarm skid.

Dont waste your money, its a piece of junk. You'll crack your frame, swingarm, bearing carrier and more. buy something else.

I'm in Il. and I've been shopping also. I have been priced $5399.00 & $5528.00 out the door. That's tax and everything else included. I would say work on them untill they come down a liitle more.:)

If I would've looked for longer, I could've saved another 250 bucks from a different dealer, but IMO it isn't worth shopping for a month calling a dozen different dealers just to save 200 bucks when you're about to spend either 5+thousand up front, or about 7 if you're paying monthly (by the time you're done paying)

I don't mean to take this guy's topic or anything (sorry) but my Suzuki dealer is saying 5900 for an 05' Z400. I thought that was alittle high, do you think that is?

Yea, thats over MSRP

Their usually anywhere from $5,000 to $5,400... anything over that will end up costing you pretty close to 6grand out the door, which is alot.

Try finding one or talking your dealer down to low 5's and you'll be in business.

Um, not to interrupt the thread, but you do realize the a frame skid plate protects a little bit more than just the frame, right? And just because you havent hit your frame yet (and you probably have even though you arent aware of it) doesnt mean he wont of course. Why not just get both? What happens when you crack your oil tank when a skid plate would have probably saved it? You'll wish you had the skid plate:)
