oil changing

I am getting ready to completely change my oil and i was wondering how much oil do i need.

2 Quarts should be more than enough.

from the service manual

Just draining the oil - 1.9 quarts
draining and replacing the filter - 1.95 quarts
completly removing all oil from motor (after rebuild type stuff) 2.3 quarts

thanks for the help, its just that i dont have an owners manual because when i bought the 400ex the guy didnt have the manual, and i changed the oil last night and dang was it black:eek2:

I have a oil change question to. Ive been changing my oil awhile draining both crank crase and the oil resevior(this is on a 400ex). My question is do I have to drain the crankcase oil or can i just drain the oil resevior pan thing and not drain the crankcase.

I would reccommend changine both of them (crankcase and reservoir)....why not finish a job while you are getting dirty

yea it should be 1.9 or 2 quarts but check it after a quart and a half its easier to add then to take it back out
