where to mount rear shock ressy?

Hi guys,

I'm having a heck of a time trying to decide where to mount the resevoir for my rear shock.. It has enough hose to almost reach the front bumper, but I just can't decide where to put it out of harms way..?

Any suggestions, or better yet pic's of where you mounted yours?

Leo, a good place to mount it, is under one of the top fraem rails or by the rear front fender stay(right side). I see alot of pro's doing that.

If you are sitting on the bike, mount it on the frame rail on the right, next to the oil tank. That is where ex'r marlin has his and it seems to be out of harms way. Ask him about for more exact info.

some of those pics show it mounted on the frame rail very close to the exhaust head pipe.. Wouldnt that make it get VERY hot? I woudl think that it would defeat the purpose of having a remote ressy :)

Cool, Put it by your left knee on the under side of the upper frame rail, like by the gas petcock. Then you dont have to let off the gas to adjust it!

I mounted mine under the seat on the subframe just above the battery.

I wondered the same thing when I got my elka rear. But Mine is not a conversion, its an Elka Rear, and the hose port from the shock (standing looking at the bike from the rear) angles out to my left side. So I brought the hose up towards the front and mount it slightly to the inside of the rail that is just forward of the oil resiviour, and is the rail that the back end of the front left fender mounts too. I'll try and get a pic for yah. I copied this from an earlier issue of dirtwheels.. I just used zip ties to secure the hose to the rail that runs along the left side just under the gas tank.

I would Mount it like the PEP on that Laeger Frame. I think that is where all the Pro`s Mount theirs. I will look this Weekend at Red Bud.

well, I wound up mounting it on the rear subframe, just above where the battery would be on a stock bike..

I'll try to snap some pics later and snap them.. took some doing to figure out how to route the hose, but I think it's a pretty decent setup know..

It goes on the left side frame rail under the gas tank close to the oil tank.

Is that the yz frame? If so then that’s the same exact frame and shocks and a-arms and sub-frame that my neighbors just bought from Mark. It’s the same bike Tim Farr rode last year just brand new. Matt Bartosic is ridding it for them. Check him out at red bud he is the youngest pro out there (18 still in H.S) and u will see him usually in 10th place. He will be on his R for this race tho #88. Should stop over and check out there bikes if you’re going.
