I bought a cdi off ebay it is called the punisher it gives you an extra 1200 rpms or so they say, but when I installed it , it made my quad boggey, sputter , and backfire and just don't rev out. The guy I got it from says I need to re-jet but I have not heard of haveing to re-jet for a cdi box like this kind.Irun a open air box no baffle and a 160-162 main runs perfect. What does every one think?

you should never need to rejet for a cdi box, because all they can do is change the power curve, or give you extra rpm, no need to rejet unless it backfires or bogs at the super high rpm

Yeah I have never heard of rejetting for a CDI. I would say the box is no good.

Get rid of it -- there are only two CDIs for the 450R that are worth buying - the Vortex and the Dyna.

All the others are junk.

it does bog and backfire at top end so does that mean I need to re-jet
