What are the benefits to running a longer stem, or is it just for comfort?

Its for comfort, style, and so you can run lower bend bars... Like Cr highs, or Cr lows...

I have a +1, its great... :macho

Get a standard length stem with +2 rox risers. This way they not only raise the bars but you can move them forward or closer if you wish. This is the way i went and couldnt be happier.

it is a proven fact that a high stem helps in fatigue and strength. it makes u use muscles in your back more to steer thus lessening fatigue!! true words.

a higher stem is good for some and not good for others I actually use a shorter handle bar height than stock (CR high bend bars with a stock stem) becuase i'm a short person. At 5'4" taller bars would just be ackward to me and i love the low bar set up but if you are a taller person definately go with taller stem. One setup will not work for every person out there we are all different sizes and have different styles of riding. Find out what works best for you

a 300ex is nothing like a 450r, not even a 400ex is, i switched the bars i had on my 400 to the 450 and found that they were wayy too short for standing up and leaning back riding and leaning in the corners, go to HerrmannRacing.com (http://herrmannracing.com) they have +1 and +2 stems in any pc color u want!! i personally would get a +2

It's funny how personal preference plays a huge part in the height of your bars. I bought my R after being on a warrior for about 2 years. I loved the way the warrior was set up for me, the R way too low to be able to stand and lean back for woops. I'm 6'1" and needed it to be higher, I extended the stock stem 1 1/2" and kept the stock bars. I love the way it is now, wouldn't go higher or lower.

Then there is my 5'9" tall friend with a 440ex. This guy has a stock length lonestar stem with CR80 low bend bars!

CR80!!!!!!!!!!!
LOWS!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't figure it out but he likes them and this guy can ride! P.S. I don't know if you can tell by the pic, but yes those are reinforced rims all around for his sand tires! Not overkill. :eek2: just wish I had a better pic.

Herrmann racing's site is nice. Very easy and simple to navigate.

I used to run CR80 bars with a stock stem on my 250R. I like my bars low.....puts me in a forward/low/racing stance.

I run a stock length Lonestar stem with Renthal Fatbars, cr hi bend. Its a great setup, im 5'10" and it puts me in a much more attack/elbows out postion as mentioned above. The taller the stem the more you are going to drop the elbows. To each is own.
