I have always ran 20's on all my bikes, i have never ridden a bike with 18's on the trail or in a pit.

i was looking into choosing 18's for once just to try them out.

I do most trail and pit riding and am looking into racing next year. so i want to try 18's

I know i will loose clearence but i read trail pretty good and can usually keep my skidplate from hitting any rocks or stumps or what not.

anyway im just looking for some info from anyone who has dropped from 20's down to 18's and how u liked or disliked them

thanks

I like 18s. I just took the skid off, its about the same clearance as 20s. They slide a lot better and will give you a little more acceleration.

I went to 18" Kendas on my EX, had to switch back to a 15t and now it's back to feeling like it just has the 14t on there again.

I don't know if I really like the 18" tires all that much, but I know they are really nice for riding the track because I can take corners a little bit easier now that my rear end is a tad lower.

You would be surprised at the drive ratio change. If you wanted to get back to the same drive ratio as stock, your gearing would be 16/36 or 16/37 (it falls right in the middle).

I know a lot of people with 20in tires switch to a smaller front sprocket, so you may not want the same drive ratio as stock. But either way, I DON'T think you want a 14t front sprocket with 18in rear tires.

I run a 14 tooth at the track with 18's. They are all really tight tracks, so it helps get speed in short distances.

i cannot stand low gearing on ANY TRACK, i know alot of ppl say that lower gearing is best on those tight technical tracks, where as i think i would have to dissagree, but your having to up shift so fast, that your acutally losing time, while high gearing u can keep it in one gear and be fine, but i know all people are different, but i'd definatly gear UP and not run a 14

o yah, for trail riding and 18s, i'd have to say get kenda klaw mx rears, 4 ply

I had a 14t with 20" tires and I had the 14 on for awhile with the 18" tires, it was way too low of gearing for me. I could be in 5th gear in my woods, and they aren't that open so obviously I switched back to the 15t.

I was wondering the same thing about the 18" tires. I want to run Kendas this year on the track...but kinda want to stick with a 20" tire, so I guess I am going to run the XCR's, anyone run the Kenda XCR's?? if so, what do you like and dislike about them??

I run the 20" XCR's on my Banshee and they are awesome, I highly recommend them as 20" tires.
