400ex Potential?

I heard that the 400EX throtle only opens to about 75% of the EX's potential, is this true? If should I ajust mine to go higher, will it hurt my engine or put me as risk of hurting my engine, how would i go about his, ....ajusting the throtle cable?

im not sure bout the 75% thing. i know that there is some adjustment with the carb regarding the slide.it shouldnt hurt the motor because the rev limiter is only gonna let it rev so far. but i geuss you could screw up the carb enough to do some damage

alsoyou have the cable adjustment at the actual throttle...on the bars...i adjusted mine that way to open more....no big deal though

I have heard that when you buy a new 400 from the dealer, the cable is loose enough so that the piston doesn't slide all the way up. That wasn't the case with mine, but may be with yours. Just make sure that your throttle lever is adjusted per the service guide, and you'll be okay.
