Cliq why dont you race pro with me. All though, I will drop down to the b class once and race my dads Scrambler 500, bad tie rods and all, just to shut brian-250 up.:blah:
Bad news about the 20th. There is a mid south in Linton Ky so I can't come. I wish I could though. I had alot fun on sunday, we'll have to set up another time to go agian. Maybe the 27th but, I know you busy, so I maybe after you slow down alittle bit.
Hopefully the next time I come up I wont get so lost, Jared saved me so many times.

yeah, easy to do without the arrows. we know where we're going. we tore it up. i had a lot of fun. sorry i had to leave. we'll play the 27th by ear. i know i need to practice so i'm gonna try to go a lot. i'll be racing my first race either the 16th or the next weekend after that at loretta's. i can't wait! we'll keep the 27th open for now but i'm sure it'll change. i may only be able to go for like 2 hours but if i ride hard the whole time it's good practice. i usually race the pro class with jared in the buddy races. unfortunately if i don't ride i won't be in shape for it and have to run B. i'm trying to get there. i think i'm fast enough just don't have the endurance i need...

:D

keep in touch. i'm ready to race and practice all i can. 4/15 can't get here fast enough. i didn't get home until 9:30 tonight...
:grr:

you blew a head gasket!!!??? that sucks. you might have to get the 450 sooner than you thought. the money you've put in that you could have bought one, ya know. great quad but too much maintenance...

I think after a few more laps I will have all the turns down. execpt for that one I always missed, on the last lap, right as I was coming up on it. I was thinking that I can't miss it this time, and while I was thinking that I went right pass it.
I hate to ask you to leave your wife and son agian, so if its a big deal, don't worry about it, there will be a lot of days coming up. But if you can go I 'll be there, if I don't break anything at the Mid south.
As far as the 250r, I could have bought two 450r's an decked them out with the money I put into this bike. Oh well, I'll be sad the day I finally break down and sell it.
It is fairly common to blow a head gasket on them so it is no big deal. I have some extras lying around just in case something like this happens. Plus it was crappy one that S and S ordered for me. No more going through them, I am going to just stick with Jeff from now on.
Talk with you later.

it won't take long to get them down, it's funny you were thinking about it then missed it anyway...
don't worry about me leaving my wife and (he's a she) daughter, it's only a big deal if either one of them are sick and I can't plan for that anyway, i love to ride and my wife knows that. sometimes i can go for 4-5 hours, sometimes I can race, and sometimes i can only go for a couple laps. just depends. she understands... i love tearing it up at my place. we can hit the local 2000 acre quarries this summer too. there's a ton of trails there too.
i'll most likely be able to go for a little bit no doubt...
i didn't know that it was common on the 250r's to blow them. i guess it adds to the more high maintenance thing. i'm sure you are very partial to it. just to tell you, although i'm sure you know, the 450r's are awesome.

now back to your regularly scheduled haspin acres thread...
:blah:
i can't wait for the first race, i'm ready, as long as they don't get any rain ;)

I hope to be at the first haspin race, but the loretta gncc is the following week so if money is tight might not be able to make haspin. I will be on a green V-force for most of the year and then we will ride a 400ex in the team races. I will post up when I know more.

Z400guy,

Haspin's MX series, run a standard 4stk which is 350 or less CC, a 2 stk class, a 30+ class, and an Open 4stk class. Blaster go somewhere in there. I think they usually run with the standard class, but are scored sperately.

hey bradley, you sound about like me, i raced in the 450 open class for the quads and got 3rd each time also! you might not beleive this but it was my first time ever on my yfz, i got it about a week ago and thats the first time ive been in the dirt with it. i had a z400 for about a year before that, to say the least, im glad i got rid of it! lol it was also my first actual race EVER. i was very very stunned with how well me and the quad performed, i cant wait to go back, hopefully ill give 1st and 2nd a run for there money next time since ill be more used to racing and my quad. if you forget which one i was, i was the all blue, no graphics, #22, meet up with me next time your there! my buddy also races, he had the dvx and it was also his first race, placed 7th overall! very good condsidering he didnt have a 450 like most guys! his number is 34, like i said, just stop and say hey sometime, we're always looking for guys to ride with!

z400guy, I guess there were 2 of you that were new to the yfz. LOL. They kid next to us and his dad talked to us for a while. He said it was the first time on his yfz. His was blue too. Oh well. I don't plan on making many but if I get up there again, I'll be sure to give you a shout.

hey jesshammer, how long have you been racing, im just getting started and im going to be racing at other races that have A, B and maybe C classes, if you have raced anywhere else, what class do you usually run. this will give me a good idea of what class to choose when i go to other places.

jesshamner

Well, I usually race xc races. This was my second mx race ever. My first race was at Podium 1 in Charlestown, IN last year. www.podium1.com The track was definitely made for bikes last year but from what I hear, its a little more quad friendly this year. I haven't been able to give it a try yet. I raced the b/c class there but thats because they didn't have much talent there...much less enough people to run any other class. My advice is to run the B class if you have any experience in mx at all. Even if you finish in the back of the pack, its going to help you get faster. I always feel like the beginner class is strictly for beginning riders and first time racers.

WHAT WAS THE HASPIN TRACK LIKE THAT FIRST MX RACE. WE WERE GOING TO COME UP BUT DECIDED NOT TO BECUASE THE TRACK WAS SO RUTTED OUT AND MESSED UP THE LAST TIME WE WERE UP THERE.

WHERE IN THE HECK IS THE STARTING GATE ON THAT TRACK. I HAVE NEVER SEEN ONE.

jesshamner
04-13-2005, 07:51 PM
The track wasn't rutted out too bad. I guess they actually did some work on it for once. It got a little rutted b/c it was wet. Then it dried up and it wasn't too bad. The start was on the far end from the entrance to the park. There wasn't an actual gate. They stretched a giant rubber band across the starting line.

z400guy
04-14-2005, 07:18 AM
yeah, the track should be pretty good the next race if it doesnt rain too bad or anything the night before. i liked the way they changed the track around, im going sunday to practice up for the next race. :D if anyone else is going this sunday, let me know and we'll meet up!

The race is less than a week away and I am totally pumped! Me and dad spent all weekend getting the bikes ready which serisouly took ALL weekend. But they are finally ready to go. Now I just hope I will get to feeling better before Sunday b/c as of now, I feel awful! Either way, sick or not, I will be there racing! :D For those of yall who don't know what I ride, just look for the license plate on the back of a white 300. :D :p So I hope to see some of yall there.

So I'm not the only one? I've been building a KFX just for this series and can't wait to get out there and put it through it's paces. If anyone see's a green KFX in the B class with TRX450R.ORG stickers on it look out! Rookies can be dangerous. lol

what time doy ou quad guys get there? the start isn't until 1pm so I really don't want to leave real early if I don't have to. I live in New Albany so the drive is about 1.5 hours for me.

Also, do you need a kill switch, and nerf bars? I am going to race buddies 400ex since my kfx700 is still down. He doesn't have a kill switch and I will buy one if I have to have one to race. Nerf bars aren't really a problem. I can get a set for free, just curious as to what is absolutely necessary.

Thanks

The only thing necessary there is to show up with a quad that runs during the start of the race and pay your entry fee. Just like the park, there aren't many rules for there racing series.

Bigvforcer... we live in Charlestown and leave at 8. (Right Bradley? lol :p ) We usually get there around 10 and have plenty of time to pre-ride the course and get back in time to rest. The flyer that Haspin sent out says "Helmet, goggles, and over anlge boots are required" but they have never checked for anything. I would suggest to have a kill switch but that's just me.

Bradley... I think you should race B class. Do I see another pink skirt contest coming?

So they do let you pre-ride the track. I thought they would just make you walk it or something to that afect. Cool, I guess I will leave at 7 or 8 then. Don't bike races start at 10. That would p0ut us pre-riding at the time their race starts. It doesn't surpise me though. We are talking about Haspin Acres. On their best do they couldn't do a whole lot right, much less safe!!!!!!

This will be my first race at Haspin, I always tried to avoif them before because the place can be so unsafe. Trucks and buggies and other riders on the course. Might not be a good thing when you are rocketing down the trail.

bradley300

Lil - Braff
04-20-2005, 09:03 PM
Yes the bikes start at 10 so while pre-riding the course you just gotta be careful and stay alert. I don't think to many dirtbikes race there so it's usually not to bad.

Hey, i'll be bringing the raffle prizes for T and T again this year.

Got any idea's on things to bring. I hate bringing the same thing to every race, so ideas would be great.

We tried to work something out this year on camara's, We were going to have camara's on some riders, and feed it back to the pits live so people in the pits could watch, but our guy fell through, hopfully we can get it worked out soon.

We're tring to do what we can for the riders, anybody have any suggestions on what we could do to help out at the track?

the Owner and myself will be there, i'll be running a 400ex in the "A" class, and the owner of T and T will be running a CRF450. Not sure on what class he will be running though.

They do keep track of the MX points and have a banquet at the end of the year. I think the points are setup like 20 for first and then 2 less for every position after that. You can call Jim's shop Miamitown Cycles and he can tell you where you stand points wise.

How'd you do Sunday?

oh really, thats pretty cool then, bad thing is, i dont think im going to make every race. sunday i did alright i guess, i got 6th the first moto and 11th the second, me and another guy got tangled up at the line and fell back from the start and i killed it in the first turn. so that screwed me for that race. i still passed probably 8 guys but still made me mad. oh well, maybe next time. how did you do? you won the first moto didnt you?

matt400ex
05-03-2005, 09:23 PM
Getting tangled up is a PITA, but it's part of racing. I ended up getting the holeshot in the 2nd moto to and won it. It was a fun, but I don't think I'll be back again until they go back to the big track. Night racing on the small track can be dangerous! lol

It wasn't me. Was there another cannondale there? I can't make it to too many Haspin races. Now that I'm at school and will be here until December, Haspin is about 4-4.5 hours away. If I want to race mx, I'll just skip on over to Ballancemotox, about 20 minutes away.

Just so everyone knows, when the Yellow flag is out there is to be no passing. I know it seems like an ideal time to make up some ground on the guy infront of you, but you don't know whats going on with the distressed rider who is down.

This weekend when Seth (#7 Raptor) took a spill in the new rythem section, I slowed down, looked back and even raised up a hand to let those behind me know I was slowing down. Well unfortunetly the 2nd place rider thought that was a que for him to make his pass. I ended up yelling at HIM after the race, because it was my friend up there that he could have put in harms way even more.

I don't know what your situation was, or even if you were speeding but please people think about other while you're out there. Its only a race for fun. :ermm:

I couldn't agree more. On the first lap, I had my head down trying to catch the pack. I wasn't looking far enough in front of me and since those jumps are so tall near the bleachers, I couldn't see them slowing us down. I doubled and then saw them and rolled through. I'll admit I was going too fast the first time but I was still in control and I slowed as soon as I saw the situation. On the next lap, i thought for sure they would have him far enough off the track but again I was taken by surprise. I doubled and rolled again. I never made a pass during the yellow flag area. On the last jump just before the finish line, the quad died b/c the key switch got turned off somehow(I don't know how that happened). I got passed by 3 people as i coasted across the finish line. Then the guy with the yellow z400, #69 or #59 whichever it was, slams into my quad and hits me on the shoulder. He starts yelling at me for not slowing down and passing people and said that I almost hit him and knocked him off the track. I'm curious as to how I could have hit him by passing when he was behind me. I know I looked back after the yellow flag area and saw him trying to get around me and i cut him off but I never came close to hitting him...nor do I know how he ended up 3 positions back in such a short distance. He definitely over reacted about the whole situation and really embarrassed me for acting like that in front of the whole crowd. The next time someone lays a hand on me...it isn't going to be pretty.

Oh, all you had to do was say Yellow Z400 #69. He yells at anyone he thinks he can intimidate. Don't take it personally. I think he's on a powertrip now that they let him help out around the track. :macho Just beat him next time and get under his skin a little more!

I did take it personal b/c it was embarrassing on the way back to the truck. Everyone was staring at me b/c I was the guy that got hit and yelled at. He is definitely on a power trip. I'm glad someone else noticed though. Beating him won't be a problem. He's nothing. Like I said, he tried to get around but couldn't. He has a pretty nice set up too. If i had that, there would be no chance of him beating me. I got a horrible start on the first moto and it wasn't easy to pass so there was no way to catch everybody in that moto.

If I'm not mistaken, the first race has been rescheduled to this weekend. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. I didn't feel like going back and looking b/c the school internet connection is really bad today.

What kind of rim do you need? I have 3 sets of stocks with tires on them, and 2 sets of hipers.

I will loan you a set, just so you can race.

i got wood in the B class. Finished 7th out of like 25. My left hand looks like raw meat though. that course was very brutal. we ran 5 laps on a 8.5 mile course. the pros ran 6 laps. I only got lapped by the top 3 and they are GNCC Pro am racers. the bikes only ran 4 laps.

We were there, saw all you crazies ;) racing through the woods. We just tried to stay out of your way. 1 question-- how can you pass someone on those tight trails at Haspin? It was a warm day there! Very dusty.

actually alot of the trails at haspin are pretty open, you have to stay within 25 feet of the marked trail, usually though you just hope the guy (or girl) in front of you makes a mistake or gets tired and lets you around, but alot of times it is very hard to pass and if u find a good line the important thing is not to use it unless u need it so nobody else sees where you have gone and it becomes the main track that everyone uses

there are quite a few places to pass but everywhere you go you're crossing other trails that have been rutted out. then if you try another line you could get lost when there's 1 arrow every 30 yards.

25 feet is a good amount when you're looking to pass.

did you ever get your trophy? they were yelling for you at the "ceremony"

jared graves got tired before the 6th lap and quit. then he was mad at himself the whole way home...

I liked the new area as well. There were several bottlenecks there on the first lap, especially entering the woods.

The track was a little rough and dusty but I had a lot of fun. On my last lap, two drunks were in the middle of the trail and when I hit my back brakes my foot slipped off the peg and hit the ground. I almost ran over it. Needless to say I thought I broke my ankle for a while so I went ahead and pulled off. The place was empty except for the racers. I thought there would have been more people there than there was.

There were a lot more quads than bikes. It amazed me to see that many quads there at haspin acres to race.

I raced the B class also, and was wondering what you were riding? The B class looked huge off the line. I got into the woods 2nd behind a friend of mine and he slammed into a tree right off the bat. I thought I was doing better than I actually placed measuring by the A class riders I got around, but I guess thats racing.

yeah, I fianlly got it before they left, I was extremely dehydrated and was laying in my trailer sleeping, I didn't want to ride that hard, but I guess some others did, lol

that 2 hours then a lap is a long race. especially when ther's gonna be races around 90 degrees in a month. i would think it would be easier on the promoters too. i felt like i was gonna get sick for a couple hours after and i only ran for 5 laps...

i guess they wanted to run that hard because there's more than just a plaque involved there. there's $$$$

I told you that because you need that much just to keep up:eek:
although you better not use that much next weekend at Cayuga because you will cut more than half the track since I heard it is only 3 miles long:confused:

If you're talking hare scramble, yes there was one yesterday. How was it? It was really hot and the track was nice. Pretty wide open, all the mud holes had good lines around/through them, I absolutly loved the track. We'll also be at the next one. Hope to see ya there.
