Theres the thread about sealing the bead, but how about breaking it? I wanna replace my tires but keep the same rims. What's the best way to get them off?

the easy way is to go to a tire store that does atv tires. most are cheaper than a cycle shop. the other way is to get a beadbreaker and some tire irons and do it yourself. its not hard to do.

use a truck, run the truck tire right at the edge of the rim....then pop bead off and saved money

Takes 5 seconds if you know how to do it the cheap way.

We have this older version of a jack that we would carry around in the back of our vehicles and whenever we needed to pop the bead off a tire, we'd set the edge of the jack on the tire by the edge of the rim. Then we'd jack it up into the underside of the back of the vehicle and it'd eventually put enough pressure on the tire to pop off the bead. That explaination probably sucked, but maybe sometime I can get some pictures of what I'm talking about...works like a charm and it saves a lot of time and money bringing it to someplace:D .

The electric jacks on a 5th wheel work pretty good too. While at Glamis we had a paddle that was leaking really bad. We just threw that thing under the the 5th wheel jack and popped it right off. It would have been faster if those electric motors had any speed whatsoever. Also, remember to leave a little air in the tires. It helps to break the first side off. Good luck on the fronts though. They're pretty tough.

If its the stock tires on your 450r, I know the bead is glued on. We tryed to take them off running them over with a truck, but they wouldnt budge. So we took a grinder and cut them off and then filed around the bead to get the rest of it off.

Do the bead breakers you see on ebay/ j lucky etc. work? Has anyone bought or used one?

I'll prob just take em to the tire shop in town. Can't be no more than 20 bucks a tire. I'll try driving the truck on em though. I didn't think they'd be too hard to get off, my bro hit a rut while doing a wheelie and rolled his 450r and his front tire came off the rim.

to get my fronts off, we had to run it over with our f350, which only got one bead off. I used a dremel to cut thru the other bead

Just to let you know, if you have a local shop put tires back on for make sure they are the right way if there directional, sometimes you'll come home with two righty tires lol
