View Full Version : What Should I do on my 300??HELP!!!

OK, where my header mounts up, there is the two exhaust studs. Well I lost one of my old studs and is left. So I went to buy another one. I got home to put it in and realized the hole where u screw it into is stripped!!!! What can or should I do to fix this, I`m so worried that now the thing is trashed!!! Please help and any information would really be appreciated. THANKS

Sounds liek you need to get it rethreaded. I think that all you have to do is get the tool that you screw into the stripped hole, and then you get a bolt that will fit the bigger hole.

You need to install a Heli-coil, dealer could do it or any machine or automobile shop could do it , not a hard fix just kinda tight while the cylinder is still in the frame.

i work in a machine shop and deal with stripped threads all the time. what you can do is find a drill bit thats just big enough to take out the threads. then you get a tap(the tool that makes new threads) and drill that into the hole. make sure its straight or else it will be all messed up. best bet ios to have someone so it who knows that they are doing.

I doubt he is going to want to install an oversize stud. I think your best bet is to helicoil. Go to your local auto parts store with the exhaust stud and find a kit with the same thread pitch.
