View Full Version : Where do I send my 250X for engine work?

I need to send out my cylinder to get bored, and I need a valve job. I really don't have a lot of local options.

The local ATV shop specializes in 2-stroke, so that doesn't work.

The local motorcycle shop can do it, but they don't allow ATVs on their race track, so I don't really feel like giving them business. They don't support us, we don't support them.

So I have to send it out somewhere. Anybody send their 250X head out for work? I need a short turnaround, like a week or two at most. If the price is right, I'll get camshaft and valvesprings thrown in.

Any suggestions?

Yeah, Hetrick racing did a great job on my cylinder when I had it bored. I would reccomend them too.

I've been looking at Hetrick, and they look good, though a little far away (expensive shipping from the west coast).

I don't really feel comfortable just calling and dropping your name, but if you can hook me up, I'd certainly go with it. I'm looking to send it out this week.

Can they turn it around quickly? I need to have this quad running in a few weeks, and shipping back and forth to PA will eat a lot of that time.

i might could hook you up with some prices, im not to positive though. i think they should have your parts back in your hands in 2 weeks, shipping time might come into play, but im pretty sure u could have it back in 2 weeks

if your on the west coast and worried about shipping to the east, send it to powroll, i think there in oregon

I don't think Powroll offers machine shop services. I think it's going to come down to shipping it to one of the reputable engine builders already mentioned. You will probably have to pay more for priority shipping to get it back to you in your time frame. Personally, I would be more than willing to wait a little longer for a product if I knew it was going to be good work.

Right, Powroll does not offer machine services. And waiting a little longer is not an option, I NEED to have this quad running in three weeks.

I don't want to be calling EVERYBODY, and I had kinda already ruled out Sparks because they're usually pretty busy, and probably can't give me the turnaround time I'm looking for.

are you in pa? or nevada? if your in pa, you really should give dirtfirst a call.. the more time you waste posting on here and not doing anything the less time you give yourself to get things done.
