Do any of you guys have any tips on removing melted pants from the pipe. Ive tried acetone, MEK, and other solvents but none of them work. I was thinking that a high temp heat gun could help melt the rest off but not sure. So far the only thing that seems to work is mothers aluminum polish, it has a bit of abrasivenes to it but just cant get the real hard/thik areas. Any ideas or tips would be a lot of help.

thanks

Does the steel wool scratch the chrome? Fine steel wool is 1 of the best chrome shiners there is, Pipes w/ heavy chrome should have no prob. Mine had what looked to be 1/2 a pant-leg burnt onto it when I got it:p but its gleaming now!

Just be sure to start w/ fine

thanks JTR, I will give it a try this weekend. should I let the bike run for a few min. to let the pipe get hot?

I didnt, but I think it would probably come off easy'er cold anyway

Just be careful, my LRD has heavy enough chrome and I'd really hate to hear it scratched off due to too heavy steel wool or not heavy enough chrome, Ive seen a pretty nasty FMF pipe come back round using this procedure too, but if the chrome is decent...I think you'll be ok;)
