Broke a front spindle sunday and was wanting to know what options I have or is the stock 250r all there is. Please let me know if there are any options. How common is it to brake a spindle. Thanks

go on ebay and look for spindles. there is a difference in spindles for each year, so get a spindle for your year... or get both, and you will be fine. my friend broke his spindle 3 times in a month.... but thats cuz he was a dumb***** and had wheel spacers and the front rims flipped...... spindles couldnt take all the leverage

250r spindles break all the time, especcially if you have aftermarket a arms, your best bet is to switch to 400ex spindles and hubs

86 and 87 have big spindals and 88 and 89 have the smaller tapered spindals

I'm told 400ex ones are far stronger and 450r ones are stronger, the only disadantage is 400ex brakes suck in comparisn to 250r brakes. the 450r ones are just as good

Thanks but I think that I am going to put 400 spindles and buy some brake adaptors to use my 250r brakes.

adapters for 400ex spindals are 200 dollars. I don't know what kind of shape your calipers are in but if you went with 450r spindals, which are like 83.00 a piece and 450r calipers which are 55.00 a piece and you would need 450r hubs but I don't how much they are, you would spend a little more but would have a brand new set up. if you haven't recently rebuilt your 250r calipers, they are probably ready to be rebuilt or replaced, just something to think about.

Roby...are you saying 450r calipars, spindles and front hubs will work on a 250r:confused:

sure, all your doing is pluging your tie rods and ball joints into the 450r spindals. I'm not 100% sure that 250r rotors work on 450r hubs, but I know that 250r brake pads work in 450r calipers.(not saying that is going to make the rotors fit the hubs) I was going to go this route, but I found a good deal on a almost brand new 250r front brake set up with steel braided galfers that I couldn't pass up.
