Well, I my bro sold our quad like 2 yrs. ago, and Ive been wanting to get one, only money was a little tight. Well, it still is, but I said screw it, Im buyin one.

Its a totally stock '01 ex. Only thing thats that not stock are the grips and the Renthal handelbar cover (they are stock bars):p

Anyway, the machine is in great shape, just the typical scratches and what not. He wanted 3000, but we agreed on 2500. So i think I got a decent deal for it. I believed him when he said the machine wasnt ridden much because it still has the stock tires!! Only a little over half-worn out now. I think so anyway, because who changes the tires and puts new stock ones on? They suck. So I gotta get a pipe, bro's gonna fab a skidplate and maybe nerfs for me, and of course some Razr's.

those might be aftermarket bars unless he got a crossbar because im pretty sure stock ex bars didnt have crossbars:D Really nice looking 400 though expecially for an 01

Yeah maybe they are Renthals. Then i guess its not stock then after all!!

:p . Cant forget the grips either!

Thats ok tho, my plan was to buy a stock one so I know everything thats been done to it, which is nothing:) I can now build up a really nice stocker. I love this machine, you cant beat the handling. FOr where I ride, i never have to wish, oh I wish I had a fo-fiddy. Screw that, I can never top this thing out, except on roads. Best bike for riding (cause Im inexperienced) and cant beat a Honda's RELIABILITY.:macho

Do you all think i got a good deal for it? 2500.

Looks like its in pretty good shape, but I bet you could of talked him down lower. A guy that I ride with is looking at an 01, and I believe he is getting it for around $1,500. Not sure what kind of shape its in, my guess is not the best but the price is right;)

i wouldnt buy a used quad with a 465 motor just for the sole fact that i would not know how it was done and maintained. I would rather get a close to stock quad then a quad with a sketchy bored out motor

Well, i just spent the day pounding the heck outta it. What a blast! To all the younger ones on here u cant decide what to get, remember u cant go wrong with an EX:macho Handles great. Only problem I had was when the tire went flat because the Slime in a small hole came out. Well, that, and those Renthals seems a lil bent, but it might be the stem. Gotta check it out tomorrow.

Oh well, time for new ones anyway. Has anybody used Razr2's? I had Razr's on the old one. I really like Maxxis, and Im gonna get one or the other. Any recommendations? Thanks.

It takes getting used to one, even a 400ex, when you've been outta the saddle for awhile. It feels dam good to be back on one:)

the razr2 are vicious, the irazr are cool too they look like they would hook up better. if ur tight on money id get the kenda klaws, they r 45 bucks each and last long, hook up great and are strong. what kind of riding do u plan on doing

Almost all woods riding.
I have a track out back behind the house with a couple of little jumps and what not.
There are several trails that run through our woods too.
