I'm looking to buy a new quad, ride in the sand in oregon dunes mostly and was trying to decide on whether the TLD with the close ratios is better for sand or get the LE when it comes out with the standard ratio trans. The dune riding also includes trails. I ride now either my Warrior for the trails, for all out I take my Banshee (going to my son now, thats why I'm looking for something with handling plus a little more speed to stay with the banshee). Thought about the raptor, but the more I here about the predator (especially now with reverse) I've been looking at the Polaris. My concern is the lag ive read about between 4th and 5th on the TLD edition. Any input? THANKS

A slip on exhaust will take care of that.

yeah the exhaust helps out. m. smiley did you do any motor work to yours, and if you did, did it help between 4th and 5th?

How often are you actually between 4th and 5th in the dunes? I ride the Oregon dunes and don't believe I've ever been in 5th except for on the beach.

You don't want to change your exhaust in Oregon unless you're installing an LTE exhaust. They are the only company making aftermarket exhaust that passes the strict 93db limit.

Then adjust your gearing......

These worthless magazines come up with trivial crap then make a giant deal over nothing because that peticular manufacturer doesn't pay them enough advertisment money.

Adding a tooth or two to the rear sprocket will take care of the "gap" between 4th and 5th. The question really is though, Do you really spend that much time in 4th/5th gear under a heavy load?
