I just got done with my winter rebuild and I can't get my 450R to start in the cold.

I have a 03 CRF FCR (that I bought new) on my quad and I need some help in getting it adjusted.

I wamed up the shop yesterday to 65 degrees and it starts and runs great but 40 or 50 it doesn't want to start.

Any I deas would help. I have a XC race in the morning with a dead start!

dead starts suck,i would say put the stock one back on until you can get it working right, that is what i would do because im not to good with carbs

Have you tried richening up the fuel mixture screw? Im not familiar with the fcr carbs but the mixture screw and the pilot will have an affect on starting. Im pretty sure it has an accelerator pump, try stabbing the throttle a couple times before you kick it(no throttle when kickin tho).

Hope that helps, good luck man.

what size slow jet are you running? i am running a 45 in my 400ex. mine won't start in the cold either without the choke. all i need to do though is hold the little round choke out with and hit the start button. i will hold the choke open for a minute or so and then if it dies, i will be able to get it going without the choke. the choke is in an odd position for an atv though, so you may need your side plastic off to get too it. i am just not sure on the 450r. i notice if i pump the throttle several times, it helps the bike start. this is a fcr 40mm right?

I was told buy Hickman racing today that on the Stage 2 cams you need to set the gap on the Comprestion release to .025 to make the 450r's start easier.

So I'm working on that now...
