View Full Version : Oil on stock filter?
Anybody rub oil on a stock filter after they get done washing it , if so what kind? just any ole oil , can it be a detergent oil?

Should be a special foam filter oil. I guess they say you can use regualr motor oil, but not many peeps do. I sure wouldn't unless I had no other choice

I don't think so.
The only reason I could think of is just the obvious one... One was specifically designed for foam filters, and the other to lubricate engine parts.
But other than that I have no idea the pros or cons of using motor oil.
regular motor oil has a tendency to flow to the bottom of the filter..
just grab yourself a spray can of UNI foam filter oil.. Makes the whole procedure much quicker/easier/cleaner..
A small can goes for about $4 at our local shop and does 2 filters easily..

Ah these guys are crazy! just rub her down with some good bearing grease about two tubes inside and out usually works pretty good....LOL! just kidding. pj1 foam filter oil in a ziploc bag.

There is a reason you use air filter oil. When you get yourself some you will know not to use regular motor oil.
