Who uses Castrol Syntec oil in their 400ex? It seems like a good choice of oil. It dosen't say anything about friction modifiers being added. I always use regular Castrol whenever I change oil in cars, it's some good stuff. Just wondering about the synthetic in my 400ex since red cap is no longer available....

I believe it says "energy conserving" on the back, in the circle with the "SJ" rating, which means it's friction modified. I could be wrong though. I was looking at the oil the other night at work, and may be confused. I also noticed the shelf was still full of mobil 1 red cap. (if it's been recalled, or is on a buyback, nobody has mentioned anything to me).

If its fully synthetic, dont buy it. Its too slippery.

i used castrol in my 400 and i never had a problem using it...i ran 20w-50, but synthetic aint more slippery than regular oil, its the molecule construction, they are smaller making the oil flow faster and allowin it to run cooler, but im talkin about 4 stroke oil here. only bad thing about synthetic i can really see is if u have an oil leak using regular oil and its just a couple of drips...when u run synthetic that oil leak will be like a gusher..
