is it bad to ride a quad in real cold weather like under 10 degrees?

Probably not but I would rejet it.

As long as it's jetted properly, running the right oil for the cold weather and you let it warm up you shouldn't have a problem.

I do alot of riding in weather from 0-30 degrees and i've had no problem with anything but cold starts, it helps alot if you can keep it in a heated garage even if it is only 45 degrees or so, it makes a big difference but i've had no problem with jetting although i've been told that it is common to have to rejet.

if you don't re-jet you will be lucky if you don't blow your motor

As stated above, it's a must to set up for cold weather. Jetting is key. If you don't jet properly you run the risk of getting "good air" and leaning out the motor...lean and mean is fun for awhile until you burn it up.

I ran on the ice back in Jan. in -2F weather and no problems with the proper set up.
