Everyone was talking in the anticipation of the 06 models in the open forum and I didn't really get an answer. So i'll try it here, i'm curious about this yz250f motor put in a Blaster frame. After I sell my quad I will be looking to find another quad and would like to race in the 200 300 class. obviously the 250 fits in the catagory but would liquid cooling take it out? And another question... I've never ridden a 250 fourstroke DB, how would the power compare between the that and the 300ex, would it eat it or would they both be competative? (compared in a quad frame and not the db, btw) I am sure that it will eat the 250ex and z. b/c of manual clutch and HP issues. What do you guys think?

I had a couple people tell me that they quit making the Mojave...does anyone know for sure?

Thanks!

I think a yz250f would be a blast to play around on. If yami made one they would prob come up with a whole new design instead of just shoving it into a blaster frame. I think it would be competitive in the smaller classes. I dont know how much they would detune if they put it in a quad though. Where did you here about this?

dont hold your breath,it'll probably never happen.Yamaha doesnt want 9 yr old kids playing around on a 34hp quad.thats about what a 250f motor makes in the dirt bike.yes that would smoke a 300ex.if you want one, you'll have to fab one yourself:(

you would be much better putting it in a 400ex frame. i saw one like this and it seemed to be pretty fast, but the kid riding it was prolly too young for it. as long as you didn't race any ama sactioned races you'd be fine.

Man I had no idea it put out that much HP. That would be sweet to have in a quad frame. With it being a water cooled engine if I did decide to buy a 250f motor I would put it in a 300 or 400. But would it still be able to run in the 200 300 class? I've never seen a mojave in this class so I don't know whether water cooled is allowed or not...???

mojave's can run in the air coooled class with the blasters and 300ex's. so would your quad, but i think they have production rules, so you'll have to wait for yamaha to release it.

i think it would be great in a modern blaster frame (wider and longer) ive been hoping they do this for years, if they do come out with one, i'll buy it in a second

I guess I'll do so research and talk to someone who knows rules. someone at the track or something. It would be so awsome to take a 300 frame and put the crf250 motor in it. Would definitaly be something a little diferent and very powerfull. If it will smoke a 300 how do you think it would compare to the 400? Stock 400 put out around 27 HP and the DB motor puts out about 34, I'm sure the extra weight of the quad frame will take the HP down a bit but how much? I know these are a lot of questions but I am very interested in building one of these. So thaks for your Time!

dude i am in the same boat as you..after i get my car im definitely gonna think about building a hybrid either a crf230 or the one ur talking about

What frame do you think you will use m250r? I think I would use the 300 just because it could prolly be built a little cheaper that a 400. I would like to keep the motor honda also just for the reliability. If you decide to do it, keep me updated i'd like to know.

Yeah it all depends on what i would be able to get for the cheapest. i could always sell my 300ex motor now and keep all the stuff i have on it now and have a sick @$$ quad...any suggestions from anyone on what kinda motor to put in there?

thats the 250 2 stroke. I wouldnt get that I only want a 4 stroke :macho . Is th e honda a 230 fourstroke or is the crf a 250?

the 230 is a fourstroke, but its the air cooled trail bike. make sure the bikes name is crf---r or crf---x the r is like a yfz, the x is like a wr

brad..which motor do u think would work best in my 300 frame?

What frame you use really should depend on your size and weight bu ta 300ex rolling chassis would be a lot cheaper to build.

yeah i was thinking about that but i already have my 300 frame with a lot of stuff into it so i wouldnt have to go through the trouble of trying to sell my complete 300 so i can get money to spend on my project..so what motor do you think would work best in the 300 frame for woods racing?

i wouldn't say that the honda 250f is more reliable than the yzf. i've seen a few of the honda's have the crank go out. i think the honda's oil design(motor oil sepatate from tranny) doesn't give enough oil to the bottom end. i think it only holds less than a quart on the motor side. where on the yz, it's all together, and i think it holds quite a bit more oil

I would say that the electric start motors would prolly be the easiest cause you won't have to worry about getting a kick start in the right position. which are the crf250X and the yamaha wz250. I'm not sure whether the crf250r and yzf250 are foward or backwards kickstarters. if you have to kick them to the back then there is a problem with the motor in a quad frame. Maybe the motors are foward kick but I'm not sure, If they are foward then it would prolly be a little cheaper to get the kick motors.

i would probably end up getting a kick motor anyway just because it would be a little easier to set up

RideRed250ex
02-24-2005, 08:32 PM
Yea it would be easy to set up but how do you kick it if it in a quad frame? B/c I just looked at some pictures of the kick ones and they kick backwards and if it was in a quad frame you wouldn't be kicking it into the rear plastics... right??? I could be wrong but that seems logical to me...

bradley300

depends on where the kicker is, i kick my blaster backwards
