Damage?

Hey my uncle decided to get his son a quad. It will be his first one and he will be learning to shift and i was just wondering will it do any damage to the quad if he is learning to shift and trying to break it in?

Everyones gottta learn sometime. The tranny on quads is pretty tuff, the only thing he will wear a little faster is the clutch maybe.

You are saying the quad is new? And the son will be breaking it in? If thats the case, I would tell the kid to just becareful, not to rev the engine to high, and try not to keep the bike at the same rpm for very long. Just till he has ran 2 tanks of gas through it, than he can beat the **** out of it, especially if its a Honda.
I think the only damage I would worry about is crashing. :)

Personally I probably wouldn't let the kid break it in.. I would do that part, then turn him loose...
