this is the setup I had before. any dirt bike kill switch will work as long as there are two wires.

I have a new setup right know but can't post it until the build off.

yeah a cr switch won't work cause it ground on the bars. you need 2 wires so that you can hook one on each wire of the starter ( the stock botton)

So you couldn't even wire up a CR switch yourself anyways? No way to make that work? I really like the rubber push buttons. I know I saw one on a 400ex at the NACS shop on the showroom floor, so there has to be a way to make it work! Any suggestions

well the cr kill switch will work if you can find one with 2 wires.

We tried one on my buddies 300ex there is no way to get the power from the wirering harness to the the cylinoid with only one wire. think about it.

I don't know if all cr switch have only 1 wire but if they do it CAN'T be done.

The only way I can see it done is if you can some how modify it to have 2 wires

you need 2 wires

Im usin a cr kill switch on mine. All you have to do is wrap a piece of electrical tape around the bars so it doesnt ground...

how do you get power to the switch and back to the cylinoid with one wire???:huh

Thats kinda what I was thinking, a coat of paint and some electrical tape, although I dont know about the two wire deal. PLEASE post some pics...........

i thought about the wrapping the bars in tape too but if the tape rips and the metal kill switch hits the bars it will ground out and shut the bike down. i dont think it is a good idea to use tape because if you race and the tape rips then your **** out of luck because you wont have time to get the bike running again and get back in the race..

Yeah ok well if you wrap the tape for a like 5 times around the bars how will it wear out? Its not like the switch will be rotating around the bars though you know. I think we all would really like to see some damn pics though!!!

Ok well I found a pic myself. Would that qualify as two wires to make it work???

My 1998 CR500 kill switch has two wires. A green and a black. Maybe you should look into getting on of these. I bought mine for $9.00 at Honda. My old one got crushed on a wreck.

No see the green wire goes to ground on the handlebar.

see this one has two wires at the end. Not sure if it still grounds I would have to take it apart.

Well if its grounded to the handlebar then why is there even a second wire??? Maybe Im missing something but what purpose would that green wire serve if its grounded through direct contact??

here you go my friends, fairly easy and with the stock killswitch(the red button that you move left or right) you can hook up a pro design or something to

I would suggest the KX killswitch as it is waterproof and what not,im waiting on that and a pro armour killswitch then ill make a thread about it for the noobs that don't know how to use the search button

ok the reason for 2 wires is that you have to get power from the wirering harness to the cylinoid. one wire hooks to the harness and the other to the cylinoid. you don't have to ground anything.

all the start button does is let the power past from the harness to the cylinoid when you push the button. that way it start.

If you only have one wire there is no way to get the power to the cylinoid. even if you tape the bar so it won't ground I can't see how you get the power where it needs to be.

to respond to the posts yes the RM killswitch is at a good price I don't remember exacly how much but it's not much.

as for how to install one all you have to do is take the 2 wires that go to you stock start button and hook them up to the dirt bike killswitch. there are 2 wires on the stock starter and 2 wires on the switch. you can hook ither one on the other it doesn't make any diffrence cause it's just like a relay. very simple install.

I know this is a old post but know that the build off is done I can post my pics.

This is the set up I have right know. I really like it, it cleans up the bars.
I used the stock starter button. And just cut it down to fit in the bars.
