I say BIG GUN only because I had one on my 300ex (350ex). I've never owned an HMF so I can't say anything about it.

The hmf full system is one of the best exhausts systems for the 450r. If you plan on keeping your motor mostly stock then I'de say just get the slip on because there is no need for a larger header.

What type of riding are you going to be doing?

I would go with HMF. I have heard many good things from other people and I am very happy with mine.

Well, I would say Big Gun. Check out www.derisiracing.com they are Santo's exhaust sponsor. It is a really good exhuast for the 450R.

If you're looking for awesome low-mid range power gains, go with the Big Gun...has an awesome sound which I find more appealing than the HMF. The HMF seems more of an all around and more towards top end pipe than the Big Gun, but that is my own personal experience...don't know about anybody else.

Since the Big Gun is a low to mid pipe, wouldnt that make it more useful in mx compared to a top end pipe since most of the time you are powering out of corners and rarely using top end speed? How do they sound compared to others, im pretty sure they are deep and throaty which is nice. I have an hmf on my 400 and like it alot but would like to try something different on the R and was thinking of the biggun

I don't know why the Big Gun isn't used as much as the other pipes, like the Sparks. I like the power gains of my Big Gun compared to my friend's Sparks X-6, yet you see so many of those used for MX.

i think alot of it has to do with what company will give the most sponsership. Big gun is starting to help out gncc riders and now you see them popping up all over. Santo Derisi and Matt Smiley both use them so maybe they arent too involved in mx. I think im going to go with big gun though they seem like a great pipe.

Yea, you won't be disappointed with the torque increase from the Big Gun, I know I love it on my 400EX:D . Works great for the track too, I was staying ahead of 450's and a custom yz426f bored to a 440 in a 250r frame, long travel suspension and everything else you could imagine...he eventually got ahead of me on the whoops though, wonder why? :D

HMF is dyno proven to be one of the best for a 450r. Not to many ppl run Big Gun on a 450r. All i heard about big gun is that they are loud and they rust.

ive been searching around alot looking for some good info on the big guns and i just cant find enough good opinions on them so i think i am going to go with good ole trustworthy hmf

good choice...i have the slip on HMF with airbox lid on (I ride in dusty conditions) and threw a 125 main in there and she doesn't lug anymore and is alot faster all around and sounds good...not too loud either but loud enough...you wont be sorry with the HMF

Strange, mine has been on there for a few years and it still hasn't shown any signs of rusting...also, the Big Gun is quieter than a lot of the aftmarket pipes out there...including the HMF, it just has a deeper sound.

I just don't think people give the Big Gun pipe a chance because everyone is using HMF and there are no pro riders using them.
