I want to try some mx on my quad this year, but my bike is set up for XC. I only have front elkas is the rear shock stock good enough? What else should I do. I race for points in XC so I don't want to my widen my quad permanetly. Do I have a chance with all the MX setup machines.

a good cc rider or any will be able to compete just start in novice .it does not really matter how you do . i have found in the past that you can learn alot and become a better rider just by giving it your best. a stock front end is fine your not a pro.

You could change you offset to 4-1 this would help be alittle wider then you could switch back to the 3-2 offset in for xc.

I was thinking the 4-1 offset too, since I have an extra pair of ITPs

Is it really? I thought it was one inch to the hub then its out 4 inches instead of 3 making it one inch wider. I've never been a rim/tire expert.

3-2 is wider than 4-1, I run 4-1's on my XC quad to fit between the trees!

i have 4-1 on my bike because i did not want to buy a arms .i told them to mount them so that the offsett made it wider . this in return exposes most of your brake caliper wich sucks but its better than spacers. but worse is i now have houser lt +2 with elka elites. now im at 52" wide. so now i need another set of rims 3-2 to bring me down to 50". think im goona go with the maxxis 6 ply moto x 20/6/10 . i have 21/7/10 now but i saw that at capewayrovers the shorter and narrower worked better!!!!!!
its only money right!!!!!!!!!!!!!

not if u get the valve stem put in back words (inside the rim) and then drill out a new hole on the other side and install a new stem the correct way and then put the rims on backwords!

then i becomes a 1-4

ive seen it done with stock rims

:blah:

it was done with stock rims on my friends rappy to get the frount end wider.

why would it mess it up your are just adding another stem!
the factory drills holes in the rim to put in the stem!

4-1 or 1-4 you can buy them either way or put them on backwords. not that hard to do , but the end result WILL be wider. i use that set up for ice racing.
