i put a 250r swingarm and shock then 250r a-arms and shocks on my 300ex. i got a shock mount welded on so i can use the 250r shock in the rear. doe anyone know how much wider and longer the rear end is goin to be and front end. anyone have opinions on this. good or bad idea? thanks

the a-arms are a horrible idea, the swingarm should be ok as long as you get a shock made for that set up.

Only you will know if you like it after you ride it.

Some others can explain this better, but it has to do with the angle of the tie rods when you swap a arms. The 250r or 400ex arms will cause your 250x or 300ex tie rods to be at a slight angle. I am not an expert on this, but evidently this causes bump steer and twitchy steering at high speeds.

I run a very extreme set up that most say has got to handle like crap! +3+1 400ex arms, 4:1 wheels, custom frame with top mount moved, and 16" shocks. I would not run it if it handled like crap and am very happy with this set up. I only have 400 dollars in the a arms and shocks together, that alone is kind of hard to beat. I will say that I tried stock 250r arms and raced a while with them. The only thing I liked about them was the added width, the turning radius was horrible and the steering was not great.

If you do a search you can find hundreds of questions, answers, arguments, and tips on this swap and the results of many people’s experiments with it.
