I'm lookin into buying some new a arms for my 416. I just got a lonestar +4 for the back and now I want my front to be wider for better handling. Would +3 a arms look rediculously stupid and sit way to low with stock shocks? I'm only 110-120lbs and wasn't sure if I could get by with running them for a while just until I can afford some cheap works or something. Sorry I don't know, I've never seen anyone with stock shocks with such wide a arms.

If you bought LT +3 arms, you wont be able to ride it with stock shocks. However I believe you can get +3 arms that use stock length shocks.

Yes, you can get +3's that use stock length shocks... I run 'em and also have a +4 Lonestar axle, so that would be a great setup I can tell you from experience.

I have the actual stock shocks for the 400ex and that was what I was wanting to use with the +3's being though I'm not that heavy - 110-120lbs.

What type of riding do you do?

What pat of VA are you in?

Well I don't ride extremely big jumps but I do go to some of the tracks around here and ride nothing over like 30-40ft. And I'm in Chesapeake. Where are you?

I think your stock front shocks will be fine for that type of riding.

Im around Manassas

Ok, I didn't think they would sit high enough but when they get here I guess I'll find out. Did you go down to Elizabeth City for the race last weekend?

Nah, I didnt go. They make +3 arms that are setup for stock length shocks. There for it will sit the same as stock, but it will just be wider.

Ex: I believe these are +2 arms with stock length shocks.

I still say even at your weight that you will need new shocks to run +3's... Even if its a low end aftermarket pair, the stock shocks wont cut it if you ask me....

You don't think they will have enough travel or just not good enough because they are stock? I've had the bike for a little while now and don't have any trouble jumping with the stock shocks. Then again I have only ever ridden one other fourwheeler with a nice set of shocks on the front. I still might just keep the a arms put up until I can find some works or some lower end brand of shocks that would be better for the a arms I am buying.

When you add +3 a arms you are changing the pivot point on the arms and where the shocks mount to the lower arm. This increases the leverage and will make your shocks WAY softer than they are now. So even at your weight I would say the stock shocks are NOT acceptable for +3's under any circumstances. Going to a +3 front end is not something you can half-***. If youre going to put those arms on you need to buy new shocks as well... I just switched from a +2 to a +3 front end and had to get my shocks redone with new springs and everything for them, and those are aftermarket PEP's.... That should tell you something. I only increased an inch and had to get a top of the line set of aftermarket shocks redone. How do you think your stock ones will function going with a 3 inch increase like youre planning?

Well I decided not to get them they were on Ebay and went for more than I was wanting to pay. But thanks for the help I am planning on getting +2's and just keeping them put up until I can get enough money to buy back my works from the guy I sold them to.

I would buy the plus 3 a arms that are NOT long travel. Make sure they fit your stock front shcoks. If you are bottoming out try and find some stock front shocks from a new 450R, They are alot nicer and will feel like you have an expense set of aftermarkets.

Yea I was just thinkin of getting +2's and then getting 450r shocks. Someone told me that you could do that and it would probably be a good set up for me.
