I have an o4 400ex, so i have lots of choices for nerf bars. I want to here what the guys at exriders use... I ride woods mostly so the first question i have is do i really even need them and are they durable enough???? I ride rough rockey trails. They can sometimes be tight too... If i do get them which ones do you think would be a good choice to get. I was thinking something with heels guards because i like my stock heel guards on my 400. Mabe something with those racing aftermaket pegs...? I was thinking mabe ac propegs??

i think the new propegs should be good for you, or you could just get some ims pegs with standard ac nerds and possibly keep your stock heel gaurds

Take a look at these nerfs. I have not ordered them due to the price; however they look pretty cool!

I just read some reviews of the PRMs side bars. If you ride in mud, expect to have a lot of build up! I primarly do long range desert riding in Mexico. I also have a ton of titanium in my foot do to a break. I like the idea of the extra protection. I sent PRM a message asking for some more pictures of the shifter clearance. I'll post them if they reply.

AC Racing Pro-peg $309
PRM Side Bars $224

I like the Pro-peg size better. More surface area to grip on with.
E-bay tons of used nerf for the EX.

do the AC nerfs still stick out past the rear tires? i think the older style with the propegs were ugly cuz they were too wide. if they narrowed em up then the new propegs get my vote. just look around, there are about 12 different brands.

I have a set of Arens nerfs that took a hit hard enough to bend the stock peg with only a minor bend to the nerf which was easily straightened. No experience with any other nerfs.

I would say get some IMS pegs with the ac or IMS standard nerfs becuase I snapped my ac propegs in half on a drop, my feet landed perfectly on the pegs and everything, boy was that a nut cruncher :eek2: .
