any reason you are going 265, instead of like a 310, or 330?

id personally go with a 310 over either. but it depends on what kind of riding you do mostly?

Different classes. 250cc class, max displacement is 265cc. A 310cc or 330cc would have to go in the Open Class.

i'd go with the esr 265 powervalve just becuase its a powervalve. If curtis sparks still made their 265 powervalve i'd probably go with them. Maybe check out lrd too.

sparks:
Pros: Made by a good engine builder
Cons: Not a powervalve

Esr:
Pros: Powervalve, Good Engine builder.
Cons: None that i can think of?

curtis doesn't even touch 2-strokes any more, you have to beg to a buddy for even a pipe

I have a lrd310pv I have yet to install on my atc250r, I gave esr a month to get in the pv cylinders and nothing, still on backorder, so I called lrd they had them ready to go. they cost $400 more than esr, but the porting is far better, the porting on my esr330 sucks, nothing is symetrical, its like it was ported by two different people at totally seperate times. The lrd looks like they used a micrometer and got both sides exaclty the same.

ESR has been nothing but great to me. I would give them a call, they help you out in deciding what to go with and the customer support is great. On top of that they have great products. Like stated I dont even think sparks deal with the 250r anymore.

I don't know about the powervalve non powervalve I've had both and in my case (which everyone else says go pv) My lrd powervalve was a dog compared to my non pv baldwin cylinder. The baldwin would walk all over the lrd. I also had my suspension serviced by lrd once. And it took them 4.5months to change the oil and seals! Then after that I got them home put them on my quad, and the next morning, (without riding on it) There were two puddles of oil under my quad both lower shock seals let go!
They told me they used the wrong ones. Sent it back fixed it, and then the shocks felt completely different I could tell that one had been bled incorrectly and had a ton of air in it. Needless to say I know they are supposed to be a reputable company but I have had nothing but horrible things to say. Thats the end of my ***** fest.

I haven't had very good luck with LRD either. Sent a 250R cylinder back to get updated port work, and when I got it back it ran worse than before I sent it of. Send you shocks to Baldwin, he dose great work! I have tried many times to get Sparks to do 250R port work and everytime all I hear is 4 stroke this and that. So now its like hide and go seek for old Sparks cylinders for me. I hate the fact that nobody really wants to mess with the 250R anymore. Mabey if enough us beg (we shouldn't have to, the R kept this sport alive) the aftermarket performance shops will listen again.
