I know chrome is more expensive, and it looks good on swingers and arms, but how does it hold up to sandy trail riding and the occasional small rocks? Is PC the best way to go for the toughest?

for the look....and the fact that when the lowers get chipped and scraped they can fairly easily be redone.

i pc everyday. i can pc and re pc until im blue in the face...yet what are my a arms? i use what lasts on high wear items.

powdercoat is more durable then regular paint but its not indestructable. neither is chrome, but chrome and nickle plated parts will usually withstand quit a bit of abuse before they are considered tore up.

as you can see, i choose chrome:D

From what I hear, the average price to do arms in chrome is about $200, and for PC, it can be done for less than $100.
And is nickel plating any cheaper than chrome, or is it the same?
