Loose Quadsport Stem

The stem on my 86 Quadsport wiggles side to side but not up and down. Does this sound like the bushings maybe bad? What should I take a look at to see? Any other ideas?

Its probally the upper bushing, if not try the bearings on the bottom of the stem.

there is a bushing at the bottom of the steering stem that probably does need replacing. i have a 230 quadsport and had to do the same thing. the part is pretty cheap and only takes a few minutes to install. make sure you lube it after you get it on, though.
